You ring the number, press the automated line for 'rebate' which is one of the options and then the guy answered right away and I said I'd like my rebate and he was most helpful
Simple as that.
I noticed that the number that was given was different from the one on my bill. You probably HAVE to ring that one.
You also need you customer account numbers handy.
Thank you again - I can now be warm for more hours in the day !!!****************************0 -
do you know if this applies to customers with key/card meter's ?
great tip... will pass it on to friends anyway :xmassign:I would love to be a Travel Agent :j0 -
thank you very much for this one!
First thing this morning i rang round 5 family members. Result=£300 saved by my family before breakfast!
BTW i rang and pressed option 1 which was for winter rebate. I was on hold for 10 mins with no sign of an answer. I then redialled and pressed option 4 which was "any other query" and said i wanted to register for the winter rebate and the woman was able to do it for me.0 -
Do they do anything like this for Southern Electric customers?
I'm getting the right benefits but im not on british gas
Thankyou so much though jenny because its helped my daughter whos a working single mum on benefits and my mum who is a pensioner on benefits too
Wish I could get it myself
Edit: I've rang southern, seems like they dont do it but say they are sending me some details about energy plus care for people on benefits, I doubt that will be anything to match the £60 rebate though. If this is going to be every year I might think about moving suppliersThanx

i have a 84 yr old neighbour who has both gas and electric with b. gas. she is not on any benefits only gets her pension and her husbands works pension. before i go in and ask her for her bills to ring them would she be entittled to this discount.. if i go in and tell her about it and she not entittled will only upset her. I only have tomorrow morning to do this as im away for the new year/hogmany

There hoping to get in touch with my supplier, Scottish power in the new year0 -
Hang on a minute!
Aren't British Gas supposed to be (one of) the most expensive supplier(s) around?
No wonder they can afford to give a rebate to a few less well off customers!
Forget £60 - elsewhere on this site Martin has said switching suppliers could save some households as much as £300-£400! (it only saved me about £25 mind - but I'm a low user anyway)
If you haven't already, I'd suggest checking how much you could save by switching:
