I phoned up for one of my clients today. I was told she would receive two payments of £20 each (just for gas) by the end of April. Great job satisfaction - I love it when a client gets more money.
I also phoned SWALEC, her electricity provider, to ask if they could match this offer. She filled an application form in over the phone but said she didn't think they would offer anything. Will let you know if there is a positive outcome to this. Worth a try at least.0 -

i read this thread and was gutted i hadnt read it before  as i am a customer of british gas, anyway i have just come off the phone to them and the man said they were registering for 2006/2007 winter bills and that it would start from then after answering all relevant questions he said thats it all done i than said i thought the dead line was feb 28th 2006 he mentioned that i wasnt the only one who had said that so would put it through now and if i get i get if not i wont he then asked if i had got my information off this site i replied yes and he said that martin :money: had only heard this from someone and not directly from british gas and that they did say they would extend the offer but there was some confusion as to the date. sorry if i havent made myself clear but i think the point is clear. if you ring them make sure you question the end date!!! :wave:0 -
Have spoken to British Gas today. First of all I was told that I could only register for next winter, so I did that. After reading the latest post here, I thought I'd try again, by mentioning the 28Feb deadline. I was told I could have 50% rebate for this winter, so I should get that off my next bill - so it's worth asking, because they probably won't offer otherwise! :T0

I'm still waiting has anyone actually received a cheque yet as i'm on a pre-payment?Darren0

Just called. Was told 28th Feb deadline was cancelled last Friday. So had to register for 2006/2007. Better than nothing I guess.0

Just rang for my mum and initially told I could only register for next year - I said "oh I thought the deadline was now the 28th?" and she said "oh ok if you've read that I'll register you for next Nov AND you can have half of the rebate for this year"
Mum is chuffed - told it will be a £20 credit to her gas bill next month. Cheers guys!0 -

UPDATE 6 JAN 2006: Although the official deadline for applications was 31/12/05, British Gas says you can still apply til 28 Feb 06, though you will only get £30 now, rather than £60. This date is sometimes being disputed by the BG call centre, if that's the case just push and ask it for it and it usually allows it.
They are giving out rebates of £60 on winter bills - it is paid in two installments in November and February. The rebate is worth £40 for gas customers, £20 for electricity, i.e. £60 for customers getting both.
Check to see if you’ve received a form with your gas bill or call 0845 602 2008 and press 1 for Winter Fuel Rebate. All you need is your account details and they’ll arrange it for you.
It's for British (or Scottish) Gas customers only and you have to be on one of the following benefits:
Vulnerable Customer - Eligible Benefits
• Disability living allowance
• Pension Credit
• Attendance allowance
• War disablement pension which includes either a mobility supplement or constant attendance allowance
• Disablement pension which includes constant attendance allowance
• Child tax credit where the relevant income is £14,600 or less
• Working tax credit where the relevant income is £14,600 or less
• Council tax benefit
• Housing benefit
• Income-based job seekers allowance
• Income support
• Carers Allowance
• Severe Disability allowance
anyway thanks alot for info least I can look forward to £90 next winter which will be a big help.

It has been on Working Lunch (BBC2 Today 22/2/06) that ALL company's are doing the cash back scheme for vuneralble customer.
If you are not on British Gas then contact your supplier and ask what sort of scheme they adopt - you may be suprised at the result!!!!MSE_Jenny wrote:URGENT! If you receive means-tested benefits you can claim a 60 quid rebate from British (or Scottish) Gas.
