ENDS 28 FEB. £30 rebate for British Gas customers on benefits.

thank goodness for that .... been 'flapping' for days trying to get through and finally all sorted - couldnt of come at a better time !!!!!

I only found out about the rebate today through this site so phoned 08456032430 and was told that as I was late registering ie after 31 Dec that I would only get half the rebate - £20 (I only get gas from them)
So the rebate is now cut £20 for gas, £10 for electricity.

I complained that I was not told/written to about this by BG and was told well its been in the papers and people have found out through word of mouth! How proffessional.

I think many people who should benefit still don't know or have found out later rather than sooner so their rebate has been cut.

I think this is very unfair and BG have behaved in a very unscrupulous way- keep quiet about it, so less claimants. And when more people do find out just cut the rebate.
In effect they are penalising their "vunerable customers" for their ineptidude in publicising the rebate!

Many thanks for the Tip - Tried it just (03/01/06) and have got Rebate on both Gas and Lecky.

I applied today (3rd Jan) and was told I'd get the full £60, so I'm not sure what the guy you spoke to was on about captain oats. I only found out about it through this website, and not from them, so thanks.

Try again using this number 08456022008 and press 1 for winter fuel rebate.

I read about the rebate just before Christmas, and have arranged this for my elderly Mum. Mum asks me to say Thank You! (Thank you from me too)!

I phoned to check that I was getting the full amount (just before 8pm), as I was told before 31st Dec that I might not get the full amount. The lady I spoke to said that they were now only giving half the amount to anyone who calls, and that included anyone who called today. She said that no-one who called today would be getting the full amount, and if that was what they had been told, they had been misinformed. Will be interesting to know what all the confirmation letters say!!

I was told I would get £20 for gas and £10 for electric better than nothing but a bit disapointing as I only got the email from Martin on the 31st so to late for me to do anything.I will write though when I receive the letters from them.

i think you may find that thats times 2, i got a letter saying i would receive the above off my last bills and then the above off my next bills.

rang up today on behalf of another elderly person .. although they have extended there deadline the offer now is for only £30. £20 gas £10 electric as they say the first deadline has gone and now the offer is for the 2nd half of the offer.. mind you still better than nothing ..
