Okay, thanks. But I pay by DD payments of certain amounts per month, so as such I am probably pre-paying too? I really must get organised. No point in them having *my* money in *their* bank!!0 -
SPINKY37 wrote:Sure I was on hold for 7 mins, but human voice answered ..... asked a couple of questions, and have got £40 off Gas and £20 off Electricity with BG - to be credited on to the accounts between January & April 2006.
Funny though, the woman at BG said that in the last week they have had a surge of applications, and even asked where I had heard about the Winter Fuel Rebate ........... mentioned this site and the link to Daily Mirror!!
So they've told you that you are definitely getting your £60 in Jan and April. Yet I *might* get £60, and no definite time given. Would it be okay to private email you if they say I am not getting the same deal?.......should I need to complain?0 -

I would get your in-laws to phone them tomorrow, and quote some of the mails on here. If what I was told is true (that they must be processed by Dec 31st) then they could lose out. There's no reason for anyone to fill out forms when it can be done in minutes on the phone. Complain, complain, and complain again!! I'm going to if I don't get the full amount!!!0 -

I registered this morning and was told £40 to be deducted from my next quarterly bill.
I rang for my elderly Mum in law this pm. and was told someone would confirm her entitlement (don't know whether they meant to the benefit or to the rebate, I wasn't asked for her NINO?) and she would hear from them in writing.
She receives Pension Credit and pays her bill at the PO weekly. Don't know if this makes a difference. This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

CeJay wrote:Thank you for the alert re BG rebate, just as other replies below, I have been unable to do other than leave my details on the dedicated phone line, I know it is a dedicated line because other BG lines are able to pick up but say they are unable to process a claim, simply refering me back to the 0845060202008 number.
BG should have made this offer in an open and generous manner through direct mailing, especially as BG feel able to direct mail its customers about various sales offers on a regular basis.
BG should now extend the deadline for this offer, particularly in the light of heavy customer demand overwhelming the only phone line offered for making a claim, if only to establish this offer is not just a PR stunt for them to quote when under pressure from the regulator or pressure groups.
CeJay, couldn't you get through to speak to anyone? Phone tomorrow, and try 0845 603 2430 - I was told this is the rebate number, and the one I got through to. Get on to them, and complain that you were not given the correct number.
And I agree, this should be extended. It's been done in a shady, shambolic manner. Try phoning them tomorrow. I'm going to phone back, and establish the fact that others have been told that they will get their £60 in Jan and April.....so I'm going to stir up a fuss!!! (I'm good at that!)

Pension Credit qualifies her. All I was asked was what benefit I was receiving. (And, actually, the guy I got <why do I get the awkward ones?!> said that DLA didn't qualify..........I told him that on the list, it did. (Didn't tell him which list!) and he then agreed it did. ) So she *is* entitled. (Refer back to the first post.) I would phone them back. You'll need her reference number/s, her phone number, her address. That should be it..........don't let them browbeat you. Others have done it on this site for other people, so you should be able to as well. Good Luck!!!

The dedicated number for the Winter Rebate (0845 6032430) is closed today!!!!
I've tried a couple of the other numbers that have been listed above, one of which was to a call centre and the guy said I had to write in with proof of benefits and they would look at my claim ????
The other one I tried, a woman just asked for my name and account number and said she would send out some forms for me to fill in. Neither of them actually registered me there and then, or mentioned anything about the amount I would get so I've a gut feeling I've just been fobbed off and won't get anything
Has anyone else managed to have any success in registering today?"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Thanks Jenny. Called on 0845 6032430 and they said was too late to apply, tried 0845 6022008 and got a £40 rebate for my 86yr old grandma. So its worth keeping trying everyone.0
