Big Thanks from me too...........BUT I was told that I would only receive £45 because I was too late in phoning for the rebate!! I asked why I would only receive £45 (don't know where he got this figure from) when others were being told they were getting the full amount (I hadn't read this post then, and only had yesterdays, and the gentleman on the other end of the phone said "Well, they phoned earlier!!"). I explained that the rebate was applicable until 31st December, and he said that it had to be *processed* by 31st December, and mine wouldn't be...........he also said that I wouldn't receive the money until NEXT December!! (As I'm planning on leaving BG, I wasn't too happy with that either!!) I explained that I hadn't heard about it until last night, was out all day today (as I was, so couldn't phone) and had tried the number from the minute I came in. I asked why BG had not informed me of this rebate, and he said that it was not a BG incentive........it came from the government, and any complaints about not being informed should be sent to the Benefits Depts which should have informed us, apparently!
In the end, after me saying that everyone else I knew was getting the full amount, and were going to get it off their next bill, he said that he would process the application, and I would *hopefully* get the full amount, and get it off the next bills. Mmmmmm. I shall wait on their letter of confirmation coming, and see what it says. I can feel a complaint (to whom???!!!) coming on!!!!
So if you want this rebate, you'd better hurry!!! (And if anyone gets it confirmed *after* me, can I mail you if I don't get the full amount? And if I don't get it off my next bill?) Also, someone said they were getting a cheque for £60, and my chappie said that there would be no cheques, only credits off bills. Can whoever said they were getting a cheque confirm that they are actually getting a cheque, or are you getting credit off your bill? Sorry for so many questions!!! I shall be furious if I don't get it. Very, very sneaky of the government in the way they have gone about this. I *shall* be writing to someone, whether I get the full amount or not, because the way this has been done has been awful. Without this site, I would never have known..................so THANKS again!!

My daughters been unable to get a response on 0845 602 2008 ALL day, eventually rang another arm of B G and was given the 'Rebates Team' number of 0845 603 2430-
RESULT,first cheque due in Jan second in April.
ONLY TOMORROW LEFT GET RINGING!!!!

Andrea, I am getting a cheque. We use pre-payment for both gas and electric so, as such, have no account to credit. So they are sending it in cheque to me.0

Thank you for the alert re BG rebate, just as other replies below, I have been unable to do other than leave my details on the dedicated phone line, I know it is a dedicated line because other BG lines are able to pick up but say they are unable to process a claim, simply refering me back to the 0845060202008 number.
BG should have made this offer in an open and generous manner through direct mailing, especially as BG feel able to direct mail its customers about various sales offers on a regular basis.
BG should now extend the deadline for this offer, particularly in the light of heavy customer demand overwhelming the only phone line offered for making a claim, if only to establish this offer is not just a PR stunt for them to quote when under pressure from the regulator or pressure groups.0 -

My inlaws also were informed that BG would send paperwork through the post. How come some people appear to be required to fill in paperwork, whilst others seem to be getting offered the cheques immediatly??0 -

Sure I was on hold for 7 mins, but human voice answered ..... asked a couple of questions, and have got £40 off Gas and £20 off Electricity with BG - to be credited on to the accounts between January & April 2006.
Funny though, the woman at BG said that in the last week they have had a surge of applications, and even asked where I had heard about the Winter Fuel Rebate ........... mentioned this site and the link to Daily Mirror!!0
