Breakfast in Bed hamper sounds good and if you have any local markets that sell home made stuff it would save peeling off the labels. Failing that, peel them off and add a little gingham top to the jar to make it more 'home made looking'. Pretty tray, special cup and saucer (or nice mug) and matching plate and you're almost there. Packet of tea bags or coffee if she prefers it.

I have to think of what to get my gran for her birthday, I can not get her smellies again.

Any ideas I am not sure how old she is, I know she is late 60's and she likes knitting.

I got my gran this for Christmas and she absolutley loves it. Has played it non stop.

What about a food hamper? Just pick a few extra bits up with your weekly shop, get things she wouldnt normally buy herself. Or get her a load of wool and a few knitting patterns (ebay) or google free knitting patterns and print some off and make her a knitting hamper?

She does eat chocolate but she is not meant to as she is diabetic. Not many people in the family bother with her so it has to be special. She does read books but I do not know which ones she has read.

    .

Sainsbury sell sugar-free chocolate (milk or plain) and really yummy sugar-free marshmallows. Plus of course, all the little sugar-free travel style sweets that you can get almost everywhere.

Does she like puzzle or wordsearch books?? I've bought them for elderly relatives, in the past, from Early Learning Centre as they are usually large print :D

wow thanks for all the suggestions there is plenty to keep going with.

I am in shock my mum has just told me she is going to be 70 this year omg. I was thinking may be I could do her a retro hamper with things in it from when she was little but not sure.

Got to think of something I could do in memory of my great gran, she passed away 5 years ago and it would have been her 100th birthday in Febuary.
 Wins in 09 = A vodka cocktail kit thing lol, £150 Amazon voucher.

My wonderful hubby made me a pink themed hamper-after a lot of hints, mind you! :j

    Contents:
Gok Wan's (I *love* this man!!!!) latest book
Cordless screwdriver (I'm a bit of a DIY chick-I even have my own pink toolbox, hence the pink bits for it)
    Scissors
Pink & purple velvet skinny scarf
    Staple gun
    Lip balm
    Little princess rubber stamp
    Raspberry face mask
    Socks
    Notebook
USB vacuum (this is the only vacuum I will use! ;) )
    Shopping fund purse
    Grease OCR CD

There was something else that he missed out of the photo, but I can't remember what it is! Below is the photo of all my pressies wrapped up-gotta love my pink stockings!:T

I did do the cellophane bit, as I knew he'd get annoyed with it. But he did wrap up all the pressies inside on his own, so he gets credit for that!
