  • The hamper wrapping is cellophane - you can purchase this on ebay or from florist suppliers and comes in all different prints and patterns.

For smaller things like sweetie jars, you can pop these in gusset bottomed cello bags - also available from ebay.

Not sure if this is the right place for this but here goes

I'm doing a gardening hamper for ex foster girl (birthdays in March so no real rush) I want to include some lolly sticks as plant sticks but with a motif on the top like a daisy but it would have to be wooden or mdf. Where might I get these from (thinking cardmaking/scrapbooking sites) ? I've googled variations of what I want and not had much luck:confused:

Woolworths had some packs of coloured lolly sticks, bit late now though. You could try Wilkinsons in their childrens craft bit. They might have things to stick on them - ladybirds and such.

Hi everyone... well, I'm new here and have been so fascinated by all of the amazing gift ideas you all seem to have - they're all fab and all unique and lovely too! :) Wish I'd have joined here before Christmas now! :rotfl:

I haven't posted before :o but I'm a teenage girl, still in full time education - but hey, I thought it would be good for me to join here anyway.

It's my parents anniversary in March (yes, a while away - but I don't have a lot of money and need to plan in advance!) and I'm hoping to make a gift basket for them. I can't really decide what to get for them though, I have so many ideas rushing around my head and don't want to give them all of the ideas I have when mum's birthday is a few months later! They will have been married for 22 years, btw.

I'm thinking along the theme of TEA - they love tea, and hot drinks in general. So I was thinking.. two mugs, with tea bags, packets of hot chocolate, horlicks, etc and maybe some coffee in there too. Then I thought one of those little plates (usually shaped like a tea pot) to put used tea bags on. I'm not sure what else to give them though - any ideas? I was thinking I could maybe do 22 things (for obvious reasons). I thought about something in a jar - I like the idea of quotes or facts in a jar, and also the cookie mix in a jar. Mum likes baking so that could be ideal and maybe I could facts in a jar for dad. I might make two flannel (or sock?) muffins for them too. What do you think? Any other ideas? Do you think this all sounds okay? I don't have a lot of money but want to give them some nice things.

wendy - our woolworths is still open but doesn't have a lot in -was only a small branch anyway but still worth me looking -must try and get myself motivated to going out tomorrow. Thanks for that

JaneLiz - good for you thinking about your mum and dad with such care.
Can't think offhand about things to do with tea unless you did 22 facts about tea and put them in a jar...........could be interesting especially if they were unusual facts. The rest of the ideas you already have sound really good so you're practically there.
Good luck and its nice to see someone your age being so thoughtful

Oooh 22 facts about tea is a fab idea - thank you!

I thought I could make a little something too, but I'm not sure what. I've seen people do cross stitch and make them into a mug coaster - that sounds like fun.

  • mary43 do you mean something like this http://www.yellowmoon.org.uk/product-Wooden-Garden-Pal-Stick-Ons-K706.htm

they have the lolly sticks as well - when I wanted some stick type things I sneaked some extra stirrers from MacDonalds :o
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p

Just to say that Yellow moon is a good company I have used them before and had no trouble from them.

Edited to add that you can raise money for charity by shopping with them too.

......if you do a web search for tea cakes, loads of different recipes come up for both teacakes or cakes that use tea as an ingredient - you could print some of those off ( and there are downloadable recipe card templates here http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/results.aspx?qu=recipe )and perhaps get the ingredients for some to put into a jar or nice tin :)

This is a site that has quotes and poems about tea http://www.teas2dine4.com/teapoems.html

Not sure whereabouts you live but have they been to the Tea Museum in London?? http://www.teaandcoffeemuseum.co.uk/ It's closed for refurbishment but reopens early next year not sure if it's before March though. There is a small charge - I think it's about £3 and you can have afternoon tea for £9 - it might have changed though now.

I thought facts about tea was a fab idea (thanks mary :T) so had a little look on google... http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=tea+facts&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

Cross stitch coasters are really easy to make (they must be for me to be able to make them ;)). If you're only looking at making a couple and aren't a stitcher it may be easier to buy coaster kits where you get everything you need to stitch and complete the coaster.

Other ideas for coasters - use 2 pieces of felt and blanket stitch around the edge (I'm going to try this for Xmas decorations for 2009) and I love this idea and recokon it would work for coasters too - http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=161.
