Episode 2
I have just had a return call from Gary who is at the FSCS itself (see my earlier posting 11:04am today).
I explained about the issue of changing email addresses and asked what is the position in that case as I have changed mine. I said this issue is being debated on this Forum as others face the same problem. He said:
1. I should not listen to Internet Forums
2. I should follow the advice on their web site
3. I should not panic. (From the start he was remarkably surly.)
I pointed out that the advice given on the FSCS website is inadequate and I wanted proper advice on what to do next. He caved in and said he would get an FSCS manager to phone me!0 -
Appreciate if you told the forum what the advice from the FSCS manager is. Think I must have spoken to 'Gary', who is call center operator, Working from a script0

I asked Gary specifically if he was at the outsourced call centre or at the FSCS itself. He was quite clear he was at the latter. A bit of stereotyping here but he did sound like a civil servant rather than a commercial call centre employee!
Yes of course I shall report back IF I get a return call from a manager. :hello:0 -

The FAQ has the following entry, does this entry remain in place when next week comes?:rotfl:(like the plaque on my desk "I'll have it done by next Friday")
8. When will I receive the second email from FSCS?
The second email correspondence from FSCS will start being sent at the end of the week to enable payments to start during the second week of November.0 -

Yes, agree it's confusing, particularly as the heading for the FAQ's is dated 10/11/08, so anyone reading it for the first time would expect it to mean Friday this week ie 14/11/08.
However, it then says payments to start the second week of November, which started yesterday 10/11/08.
The FSCS don't help themselves by being ambiguous like that.0 -
I'm with talktalk and so the only email I've received was after sending a blank to icesave@fscs.org.uk after changing my address back to my original talktalk one.
I also sent several emails to enquiries@fscs.og.uk from my orange account and from talktalk but got no replies from the FSCS, has anybody had responses from that address ??? (obviously I wasn't going to get anything via talktalk till they fixed the SPAM problem)0 -
I'm with talktalk and got no reply to e-mail sent from Outlook.
Then used talktalk webmail, and got a reply within about 5 minutes.
I know this is confirming what someone said earlier, just thought I would add my bit.0 -
Note the new "successul claim" thread:-

No email at all received here yet, so I've just logged into my account to check which address I have registered. There was an "initiate claim" link so I clicked on that but was told that I couldn't claim yet - have still to wait for email. At least I know I haven't missed it.0
