Not fixed for me on talktalk sent a blank email to icesave@fscs.org.uk and nothing back - any suggestions - I also changed my email address in my icesave account back to my talktalk address.
Also tried one from my alternative account to icesave@fscs.org.uk and nothing back from there also so perhaps they are working on it ?0 -
"Arandorastar's FSCS contact saying that changing email was a bad idea" - Not Guilty!
I think you will find it was Aurorapd, although I have to say I was not surprised with his/her comments and I held off changing my Email for precisely the reasons given to him by the FSCS.
It is the FSCS's system and not for us to try and find what appear to be ways around it. We've waited for our money long enough, a little more time and patience won't hurt!
It could well be now that those who changed their Emails to shorten the wait may actually have made an already complicated process even more complicated. I just hope that this well intentioned reaction doesn't freeze the entire process.0 -
Being with Eclipse Internet, I was one who changed my Icesave registered email to my gmail account to get a reply back from the FSCS. After recent comments on this thread, I decided to look at my Eclipse email settings (something I should have done before!) and saw that the spam filter was set to low, so I changed this setting to off. I then logged into my Icesave account and changed the email back to my original Eclipse one. After that, I then sent a blank email using my Eclipse email and, sure enough, I got an almost immediate repy back from the FSCS, which I then acknowledged with a another blank email. So hopefully I'm all set for that second email now!0

Tried again from my talktalk webmail rather than Outlook Express and the reply came straight back into inbox - What an occasion - first email from @fscs.org.uk via talk talk for me.
Thanks to the techies that sorted this out I know it's not easy to get these software things fixed at short notice.
Still think that the FSCS shouldn't have used Hearfrom.com with the bad reputation that it has.0 -

I agree entirely. To set up a process that bears all the hallmarks of a Nigerian phishing scam is begging for it to be treated as such - and it was! It makes you wonder just how secure the money transfer process will be!! Hopefully, this hiccup at the first stage will make the FSCS now re-examine the remaining processes and learn from the mistakes made. :mad:0 -
...... In other words changing your email address on your Icesave account now in order to receive the first email from FSCS will not allow them to recognise you. They need to recognise who you are before they send the second email. If they cannnot recognise you, you will not be able to get your compensation through the electronic system.
FSCS are apparently issuing guidance tomorrow on their website. Talktalk are also working on the problem but do not know how quickly they can resolve it.....Illegitimi non carborundum

Heck! What a day! I'm sooo pleased I joined this forum - I'd still be completely unaware about the whole 'receiving an email' thing altogether, never mind the fact that I hadn't got one due to Talktalk-nightmares.
I have now ditched my brand-new shiny Yahoo address which I signed up for this afternoon and my TTinbox (ooh-er) is now a proud recipient of a FSCS email. Mind you. I got one from Yahoo too, so don't have a huge amount of faith in them....
Still. A huge thankyou to everyone who has responded to my queries, posted the dearth (sp?!) of queries and knowledge and the incredible person who has booted Talktalk's booty.:T
Ok. Can I breathe now, or is someone gonna tell me the next installment in this 'how-I-lost-my-ISAs' crisis!0 -
Just to say I have dropped Charles (Dunstone) an email to thank him !!"Serious money saving Diva"........................................:p
Whatever the mind can conceive, it can achieve.............:happylove0 -
We didn't get the first email (I suspect my own aggressive spam filter ate it - which I have now turned off)
So we sent an email to Icesave@fscs.org.uk yesterday but didn't get a reply by this evening.
However, as an email from Icesave we had from a while ago had our email address in all upper case I thought I would give that a whirl. So I changed our email address to upper case (in the tools-accounts section of outlook express) and tried again - the response came back immediately!
So it looks like the FSCS Icesave email bouncer is checking for an exact case sensitive match rather than a case insensitive match.
Or maybe its coincidence and its because I am with talktalk?0
