Interesting....my (next) fear is that they'll say "under no circumstances change your icesave email address at this stage" as about 10 of us in this forum have done!
I have spoken to FSCS this morning and they have confirmed that it will cause no problem with changing the e-mail address on the icesave account as long as you have received the first e-mail to your blank e-mail. Here's hoping!

Good advice, I have made double and triple sure that I have disabled IronPort for now, so hoping now that the second email comes through! :)

Incidently was the spam filter on when you did the linked mail or had you already disabled IronPort?
  • I'm a little confused now, apologies, I am a uwclub user, I received no emails and so changed my email on Icesave yesterday and, sure enough, the first email arrived to the new email address and I submitted the reply, was this the correct thing to do ? and should I do anything else now or just wait for the next move from FSCS ? ... I'm just concerned that there seems to be some suggestion that changing emails at Ice save may have caused a problem ! Regards Roger

Don't worry Roger, the fact that you have now had the first email signifies that it is working ok, all you have to do now is relax and wait for that 2nd email like myself and 220,000 others! :)
  • I have talktalk e-mail which uses no spam filter but have still not received my first email.
I did use yahoo to setup a temporary email and after sending my blank email I received
the correct response with message. However I have not changed ny icesave email
address. It would appear that anyone sending a blank email to fcsc will get a response
irrespective of whether they have an icesave account or not.

I too changed my e-mail address from Talktalk to Yahoo which gave me an immediate
response from FSCS. Your info re electing response to the first e-mail without an Icesave acount seems ominous. Will try contacting FSCS to clarify.

let's be honest, if you didn't receive the 1st email (i.e without kick-starting a robot emailer, which non-icesavers can do) then you can't be 100% sure that you are "known to FSCS" and that the 2nd will arrive.
The auto-respond method doesn't instill me with great confidence, unless we could somehow know that the emails are being actively cross-referenced against icesave accounts.

This is my first forum post...and just wanted to say how glad I am to be here! I'm a Talktalk emailer, worrying about lack of message from FS-whatsit. I feel a lot better to know there are others out there in same postion, but still confused about what I should be doing about it - sit and wait? Email someone? Phone someone? Or simply eat more Crunchies left over from washout Hallowe'en?...

Well eating the Crunchies sounds a good idea to me! IMHO the best way is do what others have done with Talk Talk, that is get a Googlemail (or other) email address then log into your Icesave account and change it to the new address and notify the FSCS as explained in the other thread.

If you log in to your Icesave account and it has initiate buttons against your accounts then it is obviously set up ready so you wont have to worry about not getting the cash
