He did email me saying he was thinking of using it but then engaged in a long and smug argument with me by email as to why I was not entitled to any interest from the FSCS after October 7th.
However as he presently seems to think I may be the only one who has had their email filtered as spam perhaps you may care to email Charles to prove to him this is most certainly not the case.
His email address is:- charles.arthur@guardian.co.uk
Well done NonGeographicalMan! I would love to email Charles but do not yet have PROOF that anti-spam is involved with my mother not having received her 1st email (I have added comment to Guardian article though). But I strongly suspect spam filteruing is to blame because her isp eclipse.net.uk seems to be very proud of its anti-spam filter at server-level ! Have sent Eclipse an email to ask if they can investigate...0 -
HAd yet another WOT email from FSCS, they dont seem to read what I am putting in mine!! I have done all the spam checking stuff and here is their reply!!:

My email was received from enquiries@fscs.org.uk and it was caught in my spam trap
I don't use spam filters, as I know they can't be relied upon, so no problem there.0 -
As I hadn't received the first email, I sent a blank email as requested to the address on the FSCS website, icesave@fscs.org.uk, and my 'first email' came back from that address instantly.

No, but surely all anti-spam software will MOVE "fraudelent" emails rather than removing them ? So if this were the issue, your FSCS email would just be sitting in a separate folder?
The more problematic issue is ISPs who filter out "spam" emails before they get anywhere near your computer.... :eek:0 -
For those that have not received any email from FSCS, this may help. It is possible to log onto your Icesave account and change your email address. You obviously need to have a second more reliable email address than the one that you were using. For example try setting up an email address that is independent of your ISP such as Hotmail or Yahoo. You then send a blank email from your new email address to Icesave@fscs.org.uk as per the instructions on the FSCS website http://www.fscs.org.uk/consumer which should trigger the automatic email back to your new email address within a few minutes. You then confirm receipt by replying (delete the text but retain the subject). My wife has done this procedure and it worked just fine (adding the disclaimer that you try at your own risk).0

Suesie,
I use Avast but Avast did not stop the FSCS email reaching me, instead Postini Quarantine did. When I released it from Postini Quarantine Avast allowed it to reach my email inbox as normal.
Avast is a very non aggressive anti-spam client and it only ever takes action to block the most severe kinds of threats (usually Trojans with nasty attachments). It is not a nanny state type email filtering or firewall blocking service. Instead that kind of heavy handed email filtering is normally provided by your ISP's own email service.0 -

But he did say it was from "a (former?) IceSave account holder"
You didn't really want him to publish your name, or did you?:)0 -

But many people do not look at the spam filter for weeks at a time and Icesave are only giving 28 days to act on their second email. Also some recipients may be away on holiday for a couple of weeks when it arrives further using up the 28 day window.0
