Do you know what is worrying me now?
What is to stop anyone who hasn't got an Icesave account, spamming the FSCS site and clogging up the system?

Hopefully they would have thought of that, and hopefully they would only return you a "First Email" if your email address matched an email address on their database. Well that's what I would do as an IT consultant.......... but who knows .... fingers crossed.
• Oh! I've not received an acknowledgement of my acknowledgement that I'd received their initial response to my initial email!!!!!!!!!!!

Cripes!
• So, I simply pressed reply, erased the content they sent me then hit the button. Did you (Polka_dot) do different.

I didn't erase the content:o And perhaps I should have waited for the second email like PaulA describes and responded to that rather than the first one?
• The 2 emails I got were identical and the second one must be a mistake. I wasn't expecting my acknowledgement to be acknowledged - it could go on forever. I might phone tomorrow.

Anyone else had similar?
• I am now confused. In relation to the foll instructions on FSCS site:

Any Icesave customers who do not receive their first email from FSCS by the close of business on Friday 7th November should contact FSCS on 0845 7300 131 (Icesave enquiries only). This line is open between 9am until 5pm on Saturday 8th November, and 10am until 4pm on Sunday 9th November

Do icesavers who have not received their first email have to do two things. 1: Send a blank email to Icesave@fscs.org.uk, and 2. Phone in on Sat or Sunday?

I don't have mine yet, just sent an email to Icesave@fscs.org.uk as per the update.

I wouldn't worry, I can now log on the the Icesave site and the Initiate button is there next to my account, if I don't get the e-mail it just means I'll be trying everyday until it works.

Ooh - Just had the first email by reply within a minute!

Ooh again - Just had the same again, this time with an extra line at the top:
"Please send a blank reply to this message to confirm you have received it. This is very important because it will allow us to double check your email address on the system."

Co-incidence of the year if the first one I got was the original unprompted email just seconds after I emailed them!

That's the second email which I didn't get
• I don't think you have to do 2 things but it might be worth phoning up tomorrow to check (I'm going to). I phoned them up at 3pm today and they said if I hadn't got an email by tomorrow morning I should phone up. Then I saw the note above about emailing FSCS if you hadn't got the 1st email - so I double checked the website and emailed accordingly. I am now expecting the second email by 4th December.

It's all happening so fast that I would guess that the people answering the phones aren't kept fully up to date with changes in the process and I would supsect that the FSCS have had to hire in a load of contract staff to deal with the hugely increased number of calls.
