They will still fob you off and tell you to check the website in the morning I bet!!0 -

Don't forget the risk and reward issue though.;)
I expect any overseas bank wanting to get deposits in the UK will now have to offer huge interest rates but as I wouldn't trust the government to pay out on another foreign bank going down (especially over £50,000 deposited) it probably isn't worth the risk. Don't forget there was around £15,000 on each Icesave account that was supposed to be covered by the Icelandic authorities that the FSCS was technically not obliged to pay out for (even those under the £50,000 limit).0 -

Hallelujah - it's arrived. It had been sent at 07.41am this morning but it was captured by my spam catcher which of course I didn't realise, because I have to wait for my daily spam report. I always look at my report just in case something exciting has been lodged there but I don't know how to 'demand' it, so I just have to wait for it to arrive, then ask for anything interesting to be forwarded directly to me. Now I suppose we just have to wait for the next enthralling instalment - good luck to anyone still awaiting theirs but I'm sure it will probably arrive soon.
They're obviously just doing this to test our mettle!0 -
This is for anybody whose email is via Onetel or TalkTalk: they've recently had problems with their servers apparently.
I received my FSCS email this morning although it was sent 4.11.08 at 22.30 hrs !
Nothing to do with spam filters etc etc.
Wishing you all good luck.

Still nothing. When are people going to start phoning? Are the FSCS open tomorrow for phone calls or shall we wait 'til Monday?:rotfl:0

SL,
Basically a few of us have phoned, they are aware of the problem and there isnt really much they can do.
The website apparently will be updated with some further instructions, but its likely we will have to just phone back monday/tuesday to log the fact we have not got our emails.0 -
OK I logged in and the interest was actually shown as added on 10th October 2008. This is odd as the FSCS obviously maintains they are only paying interest until 7th October 2008.
As I made a withdrawal a couple of months ago any actual caclulation of interest due is going to be a little tricky, although I suppose I ought to be able to do it. However three days extra interest is less than 1% of the total year so likely to be within any acceptable margin of error in calculation.
Well I am certainly not going to complain to the FSCS if they have inadvertently provided three days more interest than they said they were going to since as far as I am concerned they should be paying interest until the date on which I can withdraw my funds.
Those of you worried about not getting the email should instead concentrate on seeing on logging in to your accounts online and whether you can log in and whether the interest due to you has been added to your account. As long as all that has happened you are likely to get your payment in a few weeks time. If it hasn't then I would get in touch with the FSCS straight away.
Sadly the FSCS compensation option was shown as not yet available or words to that effect when I logged in.0
