Friend borrowed 6k-not paid back...

Perhaps if people ask to borrow money and you are a bit wary of them it would be better to offer to help them budget/make cutbacks so that they can finance what they want another way.
Its a win/win situation that way.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -

Obviously...But tbh I don't want to be friends with someone like that. So at least it would teach you something about their nature...0 -
I think you REALLY need to talk to your husband about this. What if he is working for a firm like Woolies or MFI. All fine one day, in receivership the next day, and probably redundnant the week after.
If you have spare money now, then it needs to be saved as a rainy day fund. ONLY if you have got that sorted out (ie 3 months wages and 3 months mortgage payments saved), should you even THINK of lending money now.
And this friend didn't he have mortgage protection insurance. Can't he write and ask for a payment holiday, JUST LIKE WE DO on this site. Or is just easier and 'less hassle' to go to my good mate 'he'll lend me the money and i don't have to change my attitude to money'
grrr NOW IS NOT THE TIME to be putting someone elses family first. Sorry
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

I would send a letter to them at work DO NOT mark it private and confidential, but start the letter by saying, sorry you had to send it to work, but as you didn't know where they were living or responding to emails, you had no choice.
Then sit back and sincerely hope that the work mail is opened by the biggest gossip receptionist/admin person around!!
My guess then is he will contact you, as I am sure he is playing the big "I am rich" card at work!, and he will want the matter kept out of work.
Good Luck
OMG yes. Don't even address it to him: put it to Receptionist then ask within the body of the letter for it to be forwarded to him if he still works there.

Whats his email address?
Unless its a general one, blueyonder, tiscali, whatever; theres usually a clue to whom works for.
All councils in uk are .gov, nhs is .nhs, may mate works for a company who has its name in its email addresses.
Maybe no help, but maybe a clue in email address.
Just send it to registered head office in ME or in anyother country - someone pays his wages!Living debt free, since Sept 08 & Dec 10 :wall:

Any relatives you can write to, whom are likely to know his address, and just leave the letter inside for them to pass on?? (and read of course!)0 -

Don't mean to be full of bad news but with them merging with qantas, there will surely be job cuts in this climate.
Obviously we don't know the position your husband holds within BA, but my friend got a redundancy letter yesterday for a meeting on Monday, as her position is being made redundant due to a drop in flight passenger numbers, despite her employer stating her job is "safe" only 2 weeks ago!0 -
