If you still want someone to proof read, please do feel free to PM it to me - I mark academic assigments and would happily have a look at it and see how it reads.
So sorry to hear about your cat.0 -
kiraroo, I do feel really strongly about it. The fact the council told me on the phone last night that they do everything in their power to reunite animal with owner and then told be told this morning by the man who brought her that they 'get rid' of all animals they collect the same night as they are picked up really shocks me. To me the most obvious thing to do is to check for a chip and then to get in touch with local animal organisations to see if an animal in that area has been reported as missing..
Cats Protection are urging people to email/write to their MP's to support an Early Day Motion in Parliament that requires councils to scan any animals found dead at the roadside. You'd be surprised how many councils don't.
Here's the info from CP, it includes a template email/letter and details of how to find out who your MP is and what their email address is.

thanks everyone, just come on for a bit whilst my boyfriends gone off to football for an hour, trying to keep busy.
foreign correspondent, thank you, i will PM you it in a little while, i'm not really sure what to say to them.
surprisingly, haven't heard anything from cat protection or the council.
i'm not really coping very well. i'm in a daze all the time. every now and again for a split second i forget she's gone. last night my boyfriend moved her bed and for a minute i was expecting her to go lie on it, and today as we walked in the gate i was expecting her to come running at us, crying for a stroke.
i had to go to hairdressers this morning, and really didn't want to drive, i was so worried about knocking over a cat. had a bit of a strange experience there. build me up buttercup came on the radio, but for a second when it first started i thought it was spirit in the sky, which made me smile and think of lexi, then i realised 'no, wrong song' but guess what came on next... spirit in the sky! and this is a bit gross but all day today i've been able to smell cat wee. lexi used to go through stages of weeing everywhere, obviously i used to clean it up but i got so paranoid i could still smell it, so that was really strange.
me and my boyfriend have both said there's something weird about her getting run over, but we can't put our finger on it. it's like lexi and me both knew it was going to happen. lexi was so clingy this weekend, she layed on me all night each night, and she wouldn't leave us alone. it's like she knew she was going to go.
i went to my boyfs for a couple of hours this morning, couldn't face coming home. everytime somebody asks me if i'm okay though it sets me off, so i was crying yet again. went to tesco's too and got the pictures of her printed off my phone, 63 altogether  still some on my camera and my mum and dad have got some too. ordered a photo album off ebay with a little cat on the front, going to put them all in there.
we've had a bit of a sort out just before my boyf went out, put her bed and toys and scratch post under my bed out the way and took her litter tray and stuff out. i've been waking up each morning expecting her to be layed there in her bed so hopefully thats going to make things a bit easier.
i'm a bit angry about what people have said on another site, that i should have never let her outside. when i first got her i really tried to keep her in, after having two other cats run over i've always been so paranoid about her, but she wanted to be out, it would have been cruel to keep her inside.
it's really, really helping to come on here and talk about it, i think maybe people are starting to get fed up with me now, sort of thinking 'get over it' and i really like it that i can come write down how i feel.0 -
She was your furbaby-if people can't understand you need to mourn your loss-that's their problem-take no notice.
My tabby is a Lexie too -big hugs to you.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
duchy, it's a great name isn't it, look after her xx
i've just created a petition on the goverments site about councils getting animals back to their owners, when it goes live i will post it on here.
i'm still so upset. is the day ever going to come when i will wake up in a morning and not look for her.0 -
Yes it will get better. I've lost many cats over the years - two in the same week (horrid rat poison incident!). I often think about them and sometimes it does make me sad but mainly I just smile about the silly things they did and the lovely times we had.
At the moment I am in a catless household and I hate it but DH won't let me have any more cats until our youngest child is 2!!
Keep your chin up - the time will come when you will be ready for another cat - it will never replace Lexi but you'll grow to love it just as much.
Take each day as it comes.
((( )))Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet...0 -
Still not heard anything back from either council or cat protection, pretty disgusted about it really.
I got the photo album I ordered this morning. Got a little 'princess' cat on the front, it's perfect.
Found a bit clump of Lexi's fur this morning under my bed
I miss her so much. I'm sure people are starting to get fed up with me, thinking I should be over it by now. She did everything with me, so whatever I do, I think of her.
Aarrrrrrrrrgh, I can't stand it.
I've stopped crying for the moment though. I remembered how much she hated me crying.0 -
Just came across this thread and wanted to give you a ((((hug))))
Please don't blame yourself (or let others blame you) for letting Lexie be an outdoor cat - she wanted to be out and it would have been a nightmare for you to try and keep her in. I tried keeping my furbaby in for a while, but he is a houdini - he can creep out through the tiniest gap in the highest window - he even goes out through the attic skylight, onto the roof and down the climbing hydrangea at the back of the house!
Your darling Lexi was happy and very loved.
I know this is probably too soon, but when you are feeling a bit better, maybe you could offer a home to a rescue cat?
One thing about Lexi's things (and everyone is different, so ignore this is if isnt right for you) when my cat went, I gave all her things away, and got everything new for my new cat. I just didn;t want to be reminded every day of my first cat, and I didn;t want my new cat to feel second best (he was totally different and just as much loved)I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0
