More confessions of a Papster...
Ok so I guess I should keep you updated although I am racked with guilt I know I shouldnt be... So the short of it is I have spent my savings and I have only have half of Argos. The reason being about a month ago I applied (stupidly) for a credit card from my main bank Dont ask me why, I think I was just a bit depressed at the time and it was 'easy'. Anyways you will be glad to know that although I did spend on it once I did I transfered the money from my current account over to the credit card account. Only I decided to treat Mum to a new hoover, she was actually saving for this... and then I brought myself a external hard drive. The reason for the latter is my pc is slowly dying (I think) and to back up my whole libary in itunes will take over 40cd's
So the long and short of it is I have had to empty my savings to clear the credit card and I can pay £50 off Argos this month... I will have to pay the remainder next month. Obviously as soon as the money hits my accounts and I clear the credit card I will be closing the account... I just cant trust myself as I know if I am depressed one day i will just buy junk The ironic things is I havent even recieved my first statement
Now here is my line in the sand... Its time again to move on, what has been done has been done and its not like I didnt need the things I brought...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I sat down last night and went through all my budgets up untill December :rolleyes: and so far it looks like this ~
* July ~ Total = £418.60
* August ~ Total = £397.20
* September ~ Total = £420.90
* October ~ Total = £357.95
* November ~ Total = £397.90
* December ~ Total = £420.90
Obviously this doesnt take into account any 'normal' spends, savings, holiday spends and christmas. It is also taking into account if I stay on this meal replacement diet untill December. Now working on me recieving a wage of £500 a month (I should earn a little more but I am taking into account my pension/ni/tax) then this is my predictions for savings...
* July ~ £20 (off for an mse meet)
* August ~ £80
* September ~ £40
* October ~ £50 (holiday)
* November ~ £80
* December ~ £0 (Plus I may have to withdraw some of the savings for xmas gifts :rolleyes:)
Not ideal but hey I am not too worried. I will hopefully stop the diet in 5 more months so form then on I will save £160-£200 a month and also a craft 'club' I am in will also stop so that will save me £20 a month. So all in all I am not doing too badly... however if I wasnt on this diet I would be doing so much better :rolleyes:
Anyways, hope you are having a fab few days :j
Hi PaP - we ALL do things like that from time to time - probably one of the main reasons that most of us are here - so don't feel bad. The most important thing is that you can, and have, recognised that there could be an underlying problem and you are addressing it.
Glad you enjoyed Wookey Hole, PaP. I saw, on last night's news, that they are advertising for a 'witch' - salary is £50,000 a year - to live in the caves and 'teach witchcraft' :rolleyes:
With the job situation as it is - I am tempted to learn how to 'cackle'. :rotfl: :rotfl:
Take care PaP.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
^^^^ What Rog said! Not about the cackling though!:rotfl:
Don't beat yourself up Pap, at least you are disciplined enough to pay it off! I've blipped again (just about to do my own confession is I can find my diary!) I do think that you don't leave yourself much room in your budget for 'you' things... I know you're doing the CD (how's that going by the way?) and that's quite expensive, but don't forget about yourself too!
That was very nice of you to treat your Mum to a hoover... if she had some money saved for it, can she give you that to help pay for it? You will have still contributed to it...
Glad you enjoyed your hols... we're off to Devon again this year, should be fun
Take care Pap
Rog ~ Yes, I guess in this climate people do do drastic things. I am over it now though, I did feel guilty but not now. The best thing is its nearly all cleared, just putting some money in the bank to clear the last of it. I definitely think I have some sort of 'problem' especially when I feel down or emotional. I have been seeing 'signs' for years but this is my wake up call. I think because where I used to turn to food before money and its not there now this is more apparent. You will be please to know the card is now choped in the bin and the card will be closed once cleared :j
:rotfl: @ the witch thing. You know what this may sound creepy but I would love to see a wedding down there. Not so much a medieval wedding but a normal wedding because the caves are fab! I would love to see you attempt cackaling though :rotfl: Still no joy regarding any jobs/your venture? I guess you are feeling really deflated just now... :rolleyes:
Sarah ~ Fab I shall look for your diary. No I havent got much room for anything at the moment, sometimes I have to decided if I can afford something basic. However saying that I still have my internet and tv so its not like I have nothing and just pay to run a house. I roughly have about £100 left each month to play with but because I used to spend that on postage it was leaving me with nothing, I have now stopped swapping online for a few months till I am back on my feet.
CD is super expensive and just now I am going through the why am I doing it type thing! Its £40 a week so some months its £160 and others £200 depending where payday falls. Now if I wasnt doing that I could save 90% if not all of that :mad: Anyways its ok, the last two weeks loss have been pants but I think thats because of my pcos but we shall see...
Mum is paying me back for the hover before christmas. So that will go towards xmas gifts (£80) but in fairness we did need it our other hover had it about 4 months ago but Mum couldnt afford one, even a cheap £20 one. She has always wanted a Henry so I got one for her at work. We got 24 bags included and the retail for £100 at Argos so I couldnt see that offer go.
Ohhh glad to see you are off down devon. Is it for long? Have a fab time we love it down there. Cant find much to do in wales just now... I may get Mum treking yet :rotfl:
Thanks everyone for their kind words :A
Ok so I have sorted out everything for this month and I have £91.86 due out. In fairness one was due out before last payday but the company had a technical fault which I reported to them. It shuld come out this week, the others are my internet and some tablets. That leave me with just over £79. I am owed £30 but I wont get that till after payday now :rolleyes: So I have the Argos bill to pay and just over £69 left on my credit card. I will prob pay another £50 off my CC and then pay argos off in the following two months.
Another thing I have planned to do is a payment a day to my savings. This has to be £1 or more. So effectively I could save £30/£31 a month on top of what I save. Ok its not much in the grand scheme of things but its a small dent. It also feels like I am being a bit proactive instead of waiting for each payday to come around
So that me for a few more days... I am on a baking mission today and making jam, cakes and bread as my store need using up. Cant eat any of it though but some of the stuff (bread) can be froze for Mum to use at a later data...
Have a great day all :j Keep plodding0 -
No news PaP and, yes, I do feel 'pretty deflated, but, as you say just have to keep on plodding - something is bound to come along - it just seems that 'when one door shuts another one [STRIKE]opens[/STRIKE] seems to slam in my face'.
Anyway - more positive vibes required - it was my birthday on Sunday and I received my first ever 'Happy Birthday Grandad' card - I will treasure that.
Good luck with the 'Henry' PaP - we had one for many years - replaced it three years ago with a Dyson an rue the day.
Keep 'Plodding' everyone. :wave: :wave: :wave:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
PAP, please don't beat yourself up, we all have our vices for whatever reason. My mum is a food person and I'm a spender, so I definitely understand. I'm not really sure how to solve it though
As long as you can cover it with wages/savings and you're not getting into debt though - I say sod it, life is for living!No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Sarah ~ Wow I never knew that was still running :rotfl: I have popped over and said 'hello'. Just have to make sure I go there each day now to update :j
Rog ~ So sorry it seems that way at the moment but tides have to change someday dont theyPlease keep plodding and dont give up! Whoop whoop, happy birthday Rog
I bet you will treasure that card, amazing eh... did you get a 'to grandad' card on fathers day? How is the little bundle anyways?
Oh no Rog are dysons rubbish thenWe have never had a 'proper' vaccum because we have only ever had the cheap ones. Our last one (brought over a year ago) was only £10 in a sale so it wasnt like it didnt pay for itself. Mum has always wanted a Henry and I suspect if anything did go wrong with him we would get him repaired. He is defintely picking up shed loads more than the old one ever did which is great in one respect yet disgusting in the other :rotfl:
Gem ~ I am over it now, whats done is done. If I had a magic wand of course I would undo it but its not an option. i dont really know what my vice is to be honest but I know that if the temptation is there I will spend on it :mad: As you say though as long as its covered its fine... well kinda :T0
