Hi I am interested in one of these,
But CAn someone tell me if it has got an "AV in" socket ? IE can you record from Tv with it ?

I want to use it with a remote Helmet camera so it needs AV in to accept the remote camera pictures ;)

Anyone got one and can have a look for me ?

My reservations have lapsed so I know for a fact that there are THREE left in Brighton - Carden Avenue EXTRA Store this morning - available on Ring and Reserve.

I collected one which is currently sitting unopened at home. Not sure what to do with it yet - but I'm sure that I will think of something ;D

I'm pretty sure it hasnt - I think it just has AV/DV-out

almost 100% sure but somebody might want to confirm this.

i know it sounds like a bargain, but - it's a poorly rated DV camera, so don't buy it....go for a sony if you can for the same(ish) price. I think i saw one mentioned near the start of this thread.
Reviews conclude it's performance is nothing great and if your after a DV camera, you'll be disappointed.

I havent been able to find anything mini-DV near this price - especially with 5 free tapes and a £10 voucher. (those sonys are all gone, I think)

I had a quick play with it last night and it is missing a few features that appear on the Sonys but it seems pretty good to me - v user friendly and having the twisting body feature is excellent - I'm not sure how the image quality compares to the Sony Mini-DV's but the sharps isnt at all bad IMHO.

    £140 (if u include voucher)........Bargain ;D ;D

A few questions. Can you hook the more expensive Sony camera up to a pc through usb as I believe you can't do with the Sharp....and is the sharp really that great a bargain if you have to buy a firewire card so that you can transfer footage to the pc....I think sometimes we can get carried away with a cheap price without properly considering the spec's and on a forum like this its even more so.

    thanks
  • Hi - most dv camcorders hook up to a firewire card don't they? - for me a bargain is always in the eye of the beholder - the current version of this camcorder (with very minor cosmetic changes) is currently £300 and I was close to being happy to pay that until this 'bargain' popped up - it will be used for the normal 'family' filming and this is more than suitable (and compared to camcorders 6 or 7 years ago this camera is very top of the range!) - whats the value of extra bells and whistles when they add 50-100% to the cost but probably only 10% (at most) to the enjoyment?
I shall put my soapbox away now :-X

Is there such a thing as a firewire card with other av inputs too for video capture? Would like firewire for the Sharp with ability to capture from video recorder too (as I understand there's no av in on the Sharp) - is this goin g to need two seperate cards?
