Hi, Impd,
I'm no expert myself but I am sure that there are wise and good people watching this who will correct me if I'm wrong.
You can transfer footage from this camera to your pc provided that the pc has a firewire (aka IEEE-1394) port. With some cameras, you can transfer edited footage back again, but not with this one.
Mini-DV refers to the tape format that this camera uses - it's the most popular sort, I believe.
Hope this helps - I bet that a search of this site or a look down the Techies board will turn up a lot more useful info.0 -
Thanks Beedle I'll take you up on the Crown Point resevation.
Thanks Sniffer

Great Tip!

This is a great site keep up the good work.

It looks as though Argos have a large quantity of these around the UK.
However, just in case anybody has any problems getting one, I have managed to reserve FOUR in sussex, which I will pass on to MSE colleagues (as part repayment for Cavern City's generosity in passing on to me a Panasonic NV-GS10 that he had acquired in the manic Argos sell-off last month).
The reservations lapse end of day tomorrow. I don't know if the free tapes are there or not - but the price on the telephone line was £149.99
Please PM me if you are interested and I will give you the location and number
I might even be able to take a trip there myself and post on to anybody out of the area. (if if do it would be lunchtime tomorrow)0 -
Just picked mine up from Kinnaird Park, Edinburgh
Paid £149.99 got the free £10 voucher but the pack of mini dv's was out of stock but can pick them up at another store within 2 months.
Thanks OP, a nice xmas pressie for my mum.0 -
Thanks for the post - picked up 2 in Salford Shopping City, got 2 sets of tapes and 2 £10 Vouchers also.
Excellent!0 -
Nice one sniffer, got mine today.
I used the credit card quick pay machine instore which does not give a voucher or the tapes. Customer service gave me the £10 voucher and after finding the free tapes code in the big book (next to the camcorder on a seperate promo insert) I typed it in but they were out of stock. On the same page was a code for a 10 pack tapes which you got if you bought a higher price camcorder, gave that code to customer service who just glanced at the page, agreed and gave me 10 tapes!
Use the quick pay machine!0 -
Hi money savers, first post for me.
This is a good price for this camera, Amazon are selling it for £334!!
Mini DV offers the best resolution of the current camcorder formats along with digital 8.
Don't forget if you spend over £100 at Argos you get a £10 gift voucher. I picked up 2 in Kendal today, and used the first voucher against the second camera, so I got it for £139.990 -
Hi Folks,
