I think EmpireDirect are doing it for 230 ish.

You can link it to your Pc - as long as you buy the correct cable.

It looks as though Argos have a large quantity of these around the UK.

However, just in case anybody has any problems getting one, I have managed to reserve FOUR in sussex, which I will pass on to MSE colleagues (as part repayment for Cavern City's generosity in passing on to me a Panasonic NV-GS10 that he had acquired in the manic Argos sell-off last month).

The reservations lapse end of day tomorrow.  I don't know if the free tapes are there or not  - but the price on the telephone line was £149.99

I might even be able to take a trip there myself and post on to anybody out of the area.  (if if do it would be lunchtime tomorrow)

Just bouncing to remind MSE's of my reservation - which expires today. I may go and buy one of them anyway and keep it for any latecomers. At that price it seems rude not to 8) and if nobody on MSE wants it I'm sure I can find a home for it!

I picked one up yesterday evening. Had trouble getting the free tapes, which were not included at first. Staff were initially quite hostile when I complained, pointing out the reduced price, however the manager was called and agreed fairly readily to let me have them. He thought that use of the "quick pay" system may have caused the tapes to dissapear, so suggest that you use the manual checkout! (also had to ask for the £10 voucher, as this did not automatically appear.)

Initial impressions of the camcorder are of a good basic machine in a neat package. It seems to do everything that a casual user might want and results on my quick indoor test were quite impressive. Only negative was a brief but fairly loud whining noise when the tape was loaded or fast foward engaged, but I'll live with that.....

I have another one reserved until close of play today at the Fareham Titchfield branch. If anyone wants it they are welcome to it. Reservation code is 024997. Please post to the board if you are going to use it to avoid the possibility of wasted journeys for others. the branch does not have any more stock after this one.

Don't know much about camcorders so could some one tell me if you can conect the Argos one up to a PC? and what is the mini DV?

Just bought to go with mine a firewire card, cable & ulead video studio s/w for less than £9 inc p&p on ebay, hongkong seller, but item is insured. I'll let you all know if it works with the camera if & when I get it!

BTW anyone after a Pinnacle DV PCI Firewirecard and software Simply Computers via their auction site have them on a buy now for £12.00 + £5.95 postage
they are brand new stock with warranty.
