Yes, it tells me that some people are out for all they can get.

I was going to refund her half now, then the rest in, say a month when its clear it wont arrive.

Not everyones as lucky as you, I cant afford this. Or pay extra out of my own pocket for insuance.

You don't need to pay any extra, or charge your buyers extra.

Next time just ask for a (free) proof of posting when you post your items. Then if something does go missing in the post again, you can refund your buyer in full and claim all your costs back from the Royal Mail.

That way no one loses out, and it doesn't cost you a thing.

A few weeks ago, a buyer decided she had to have something I sold 2 days later I told her I could post using next day delivery. She said she'd Paypal me the extra once it had been posted. And did she? Nope. I paid £6 extra to post something else, because it was heavy, did I try to get this money back? Nope. I go out of my way to help people, regularly. But I cant do everything for everybody all of the time. How ignorant of me

unfortunatly a sob story that shows how naive you are doesnt change this scenario
i suppose if you scan 50% from buyers you will soon make it back
since you have no proof of posting then perhaps the buyer thinks you are scamming them.
    think on

i stand by, rightly or wrongly, that the buyer selects what postage they require, its not my fault she did ask for registered post. though i accept the fact that i shouldve still got a proof of postage, i didnt know they existed. i will do this in the future.

Sorry if I am joining this a bit late but a couple of years ago I had money from RM for a parcel I had sent in the post that didn't arrive. I had to wait a certain period of time...can't remember what but I was really suprised that they gave me a the full amount that it was worth.I hadn't any proof of purchase or postage. Have things changed since then I wonder!!!

I know it's a real bummer but I guess it is a lesson learnt...please don't think I am bullying or getting at you ( I have suffered at the hands of people on here myself) BUT if I had brought something off you or anyone else and it didn't turn up I would expect you to refund me in full and for you to sort out your compensation from RM. If RM refused I would feel for you but actually it wouldn't be my problem. We expect things to get to where they should but unfortunately it's not as clear cut as that.
I think as so many people are saying the same thing they are almost certainly right. I guess you need to take your frustration out at RM as after all it's them that have lost it.
The buyer may well be as unable to afford paying for nothing as you are!

    Hi Alison

I think this thread has just become a useless exchange of insults.
You should ignore them - it's not helping you or anyone!

It's gutting when you find youself out of pocket - but that's life!
Some you win, some you lose :D
    All the best:j
