or shes just a really nice person wanting to do the right thing.

Except for that it's not her fault that you didn't get Proof of postage, which would have got you your money back. As far as this buyer knows, you are keeping half her money AND getting a refund from RM!

You choose though not to protect yourself, all you needed was a COP and you would not have been out of pocket. Obviously if you do have a COP you can still now claim from the RM, pocket that money and half the buyers money as well.

Ebay have been penalising sellers over the past months assuming we are all crooks and unfair to our buyers, I have strongly argued against some of their policies but maybe they are right after all.

How many times do I have to post the same thing? I didnt know about Proof of postage things? I thought unless you used registered post, if it went missing, it went missing.

I CANNOT GET A REFUND THROUGH RM so maybe next time tavarishink you should read what youre commenting on. If I could get a refund that way then I would refund this buyer immediately and get my money back throu RM but I cant.

She chose not to use registered mail, how is that my fault? "As far as this buyer knows, you are keeping half her money AND getting a refund from RM!" well as far as I know SHE HAS MY CD AND SHES GETTING HALF OF WHAT SHE PAID FOR IT BACK AS WELL.

I trust her that she hasnt recieved it, she trusts me that Ive sent it, so we're going halfs that way th loss is split 50/50.

Yes but you don't know, that is the issue. You have just shafted your buyer. If it were me, you would be getting a paypal claim and a nice negative

hopefully your buyer has the sense to give you a neg
honestly cannot believe you dont see how you should bear the loss
we have all(well those who sell and have morels) made mistakes that have left us out of pocket

My understanding of compensation for postal losses is that it's not worth paying extra for 'recorded delivery' or 'signed for' for items worth up to £36 - you get the same cover with a free certificate of posting.

    see here: http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content2?catId=80300743&mediaId=80300750

I don't bother with anything but a certificate of posting

I have morals thank you very much and I dont believe that I have 'shafted' anyone. I dont understand why this thread has turned into a attack on ME as a PERSON.

I could leave her neg feedback for taking 3 weeks to pay but I wont because i know she had money problems, she could leave me neg feedback for not recieving the item, but says she wont because she knows its not my fault.
