Help! Buyer Did Not Recieve Item

Unlucky - if you don't sell much, I would send everything recorded, it's only ever really going to hit a seller if they're a high volume seller. If you sell things when you're clearing out etc, I don't think the extra 72p should affect your profits muchBaby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0

I have thought about it if I were in her position, thats why Ive offered to go halfs. I doubt she'll take it though since shes entitled to the whole lot but I feel Ive lost a CD that I cant resell and I have to pay her back for it because she choose not to use recorded delivery.
I didnt realize that she would still be entitled to a refund if it got lost using regular mail.
Now Im on the 'other side' of it I feel like theres not a lot to protect the SELLER in these cases.
We'll see what happens, and it is a lesson learnt. Recorded delivery from now on lol
Do I assume then you didn't bother with a certificate of posting as you can still reclaim your losses using that?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. But if you had a COP or receipt from the PO then you could claim for the loss from royal mail and not be out of pocket...:www: :: MFi3 ::

I would never pay extra for recorded delivery. The seller should ensure receipt and obtaining a simple proof of postage would have been all it would have taken for you to reclaim. Sorry but I just dont believe you would be happy to cover half the cost if you were the buyer.:j0

i didnt think the receipt was worth anything if it wasnt sent recorded and i didnt know of a proof of delivery thing.
if i was the buyer than i would have paid for recorded delivery, like i always do anyway.
i know its my mistake and that im gonna be out of pocket but it just seems very unfair.0 -
Yes it is unfair and I am sorry you have/will lose out. I only learnt about proof of postage from here and touch wood I havent lost out yet but I havent sold much either. It may be just held up and show up soon.:j0

I hope so, in the 4 or 5 years Ive been on eBay this has never happened to me, she hasnt got back to me about going halfs, and if she says no I understand but Ive got nothing to loose by asking.
At least it wasnt something super expensive!0 -
I'm fairly sure you can still claim for a loss from the post office without receipts etc. I did it a couple of years ago so unless the rules have changed
If you know roughly when you posted and how much was paid, I'm sure they're able to trace - I would ask next time you're in the post office

You can only claim if you can prove posting to a certain address. This proof of posting takes two forms (usually), either pre filled form P326 (they will give you a pad of these if you ask at your PO) or a till receipt with the address details. These COPs are free so well worth doing to cover yourself.
If you don't have proof of posting it is almost impossible to stand a chance of any claim from the RM.
Recorded slips give exactly the same protection as any other certificate of posting, no more no less.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
