I just checked my listings on amazon and it appears I sold a book yesterday at 8pm though I have had no confirmation email. I cannot access the sales in last 24/48 hours page as there is a technical problem it says. How do I know who bought it to send the book on it has been paid for. Help please as my 48 hours to dispatch is up tomorrow!

  • Hi becky, it seems as if they have been having lots of technical problems, there were a few posts yesterday evening about 'end of listing' emails but no 'dispatch now' emails, I thought that this was all sorted out now but it seems that it isn't. I don't think that there is anything you can do except sit it out and email your buyer when you can get their details and explain the delay.

It might be worth looking at the 'seller connections' forum on Amazon to see what other sellers are saying.

Have had a couple of pendings since Tuesday but they both went through today, couldn't understand where the extra tenner had come from in my account till I checked my books sold page. Will just have to hope she doesn't leave bad feedback. Have emailed amazon with the problem to see if they can help.

I've got my first pending sale on a £30 book, so I'll wait and see what happens.

  • Ive been trying Readitswapit for a week and already had a bad experience by a deceitful swapper.

I chose an academic book as the swap and duly sent off my book. His book arrived today and it was in a diabolical state having not been wrapped properly. In fact the envelope and book werent even together! Not only that he had listed the item as being a recent edition when in fact the copy he has sent is an old edition which is of no use whatsoever.

My only consolation is that I spent 80p on postage and he spent £ 4.52!

Another book I ordered last saturday hasnt shown yet either. I think I'll be giving up with Readitswapit!
  • I find that the books I enjoy are like old friends: I introduce and share them but could never part with them.

I handle books, which I lent to friends and family, some of whom are no longer around, and I think of their hands on the pages with their eyes and minds enjoying the read as did I. Mind you, this is trait, which is the cause of my house being full of clutter.

Ah well: my house, my housework......

Somebody, please, gonna design an icon for "resigned"? ;)

LOL, I used to be like this about my stuff until I decided to try selling on Amazon. And it really honestly wasn't that bad. There are certain books and CDs/DVDs that I will never get rid of as they are my absolute favourites, but I just got stuck in and brutally listed hundreds of things that had a certain amount of sentimental value and it really hasn't hurt - you get used to seeing them go. I get the odd pang of regret as I seal the envelope, but then I see the money rolling into my bank account and it softens the blow!! ;)

i used to be horribly sentimental but found that by clinging so fast to these things i wasn't allowing enough room in my life for new exciting things!

and that was both emotionally and sheer phyiscal space... i still have things i hold on to and i put them away to be taken out and appreciated from time to time but i have gotten over the majority of my sentimental and pack rat ways and now feel sooooo much better when i've had a good clean out

recently we totally rearranged the flat and i cleaned from top to bottom, every cupboard, every drawer and tub. did a huge freecycle event where i had people come rummage through anything i hadn't set aside to sell. tomorrow dave is taking the remaining stuff to a charity shop via taxi because there is still so much of it! BUT it feels so much better in here, we've much more space to breathe and work, i helped out a lot of people on freecycle with good stuff, met some new people, will help out a charity with the rest and will even make a bit of money on some of it and now we're much better organised too so in the long run letting go has made my life just so much better

still i do understand the pang, i'm still a sentimental pack rat at heart, i just pretend to be highly organised :rotfl:
