Hi all, finally got my other email and dispatched asap.

I have a query,at the beginning of jan I bought a keep fit video and sold it for 4.99 there were no others listed,i found another one a week later and this sold within 24 hours for 7.99 still no others listed, today I have found another one and am wondering how much to put this up for(I have put it at 19.99 at for the mo)there are still no others listed.
This is very weird as this is an old video about 15 years, but it does have very good write ups.

Also should I be selling outside the UK? not sure if I should go this way,any comments would be gratefully received.

I know someone mentioned listing a book that had "clearly been dropped in the bath"...what wording did you use to describe this phenomena?!!!

I have a book like this which seems pretty rare so probably worth a go but I think the wording can make or break the sale!!!!! :D

  • I quite often sell books that are not in the best condition such as dropped in the bath. I clearly state that they have heavy shelf wear but are a great reading copy, first few pages are loose but the book is complete or appears to have water damage but is a great reading copy. I usually list them at about half of what everyone else have listed them to compensate for the damage and i still have a rating of 100%. As long as you let people know what they are getting they are usually fine with it.

My sold and dispatch emails for the two books had filtered through by lunchtime today plus one more. considering I had 20 minutes for lunch it was quite a rush to get them packed and off to the PO. Sometimes I wonder if the stress outweighs the financial gain (they were cheapish books), however I am hooked so no point really debating!:)

Aha!!! "water damage"...that is what I was after...I wanted a euphemism instead of "dropped in the bath" which doesn't sound that great!!! :D

  • I've got an interesting one - I had an email this morning saying that a book ordered from me just after Christmas hadn't been delivered, so I heaved a sigh, refunded his money and emailled to say, these things happen, I'll claim, it will take a few weeks so I've refunded your money, please don't let it put you off buying off Amazon again...blah, blah...etc

2 or 3 hours later he got back to me to say it was all a big mistake the book had arrived but his wife forgot to tell him, so he was delighted.....by now he has the book and the refund. I emailled him again to point this out, he suggested I re-list the book, he buys it and I don't send it....it's still up for sale and I haven't heard from him since lunchtime....

Yay, made my first 10 listings last night and today I had my first sale. :T

Total profit of £1.59 after fees and postage etc but it was for a average new novel that wouldnt budge on ebay for a start price of .49 so I am made up with that.

I have sold around 100 items on ebay but this is my first (hopefully of many) dabbles with Amazon.

Thanks for all your help in understanding the process.

Whew!!! I just nearly had a small heart attack!!!!!!!!

Did a swap the other week (requested by me) for a really nice book on Rolls Royces worth around £15...was slightly surprised to see the man choose "Kiss Chase" by Fiona Walker from my list but assumed it was for his girlfriend.

Just had an email from him (quite embarassed :o ) saying he asked for Dan Brown's "Digital Fortress" and "Kiss Chase" wasn't his sort of book at all!!! For 30 heart stopping seconds I really believed I had sent him the wrong book............

Luckily I save all my swaps in a folder and had the proof that it wasn't my mistake!!!! I HATE MAKING MISTAKES!!!!!!!!
