. You only ever hear about the problems, the good, easy transactions don't get reported here so don't be put off. .

i'll tell you a nice story about ebay...

i once had a man (a newbie to ebay) pay me an extra £1 on ebay because he didn't feel he'd won the auction at a reasonable rate  :T he asked me to please take the extra £1 (he manually paid me via paypal) as it would make him feel better, bless! i of course obliged and thanked him profusely :p

I would be wary about listing Uncorrected Proofs as they are forbidden by Amazon; try 5p listing day tomorrow on Ebay instead!

you can list it as a collectable on ebay, set your own postage and be willing to send it worldwide...then you'll have a HUGE market (well, ok, maybe not with anne widdecomb but you know what i mean)

i always compare both ebay and amazon... bit time consuming but worth it

I've just sold a book to somebody in Beverley Hills. Never had to post to US before. Do I just ask Post office for airmail or is there something specific and do I still put it on a normal certificate of posting?
    Thanks in Advance.

just tell them you want to send it to the USA make sure you get airmail though as surface mail takes 4-6 weeks!

i love the term 'surface mail' in reference to the states. i have this image of some postie with a large rucksack full of gear. he walks from edinburgh to the greenock then gets his scuba gear (and the longest snorkel ever) out of his rucksack and walks along the ocean floor til he gets to vermont :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thank you for your message. Yes I was really excited and I made a profit of £5.30, is that a good start then? Will have to list some more soon but will get ready with the packing materials first, don't want to get caught on the hop!!

It takes so long for the delivery that I think you're correct.

I've got a book here that is likely to appeal to the american market. I've listed it as being deliverable to the US, but I noticed that when I go into amazon.com my book isn't visible there. I thought that would happen automatically, especially given all the US sellers that you see on amazon.co.uk.

Is there anything to stop me listing my book on amazon.com does anyone know?

I think you need an American bank account, stuff like that. Amazon.com is a different site and what you sell on .co.uk won't appear on .com.
I'm sorry but I'm not Mike!

Yes, I've done a bit more investigation and you have to be US resident with US based credit card.

Same applies re UK residency and bank account for the UK site, wonder how there are so many US sellers on .co.uk in that case.

    • Would the book sell better on ebay?

Edit: Nope apparantly, not possible UK->US :(
