  • Hello flighty, nice idea and very good on lots of levels. I'm afraid that it doesn't apply to me as I'm self employed with no staff, my other half is also a one man operation (the family joke is about the staff Christmas do, I'd invite him to mine if I could go to his)

I'm sure that other MSEers could set up a similar works library though. Thank you for the suggestion.
  • from my first sale on friday, i had a peaceful saturday and then sold 6 items yesterday - which have now totalled about 17 profit after postage

think tho - most of my best stuff has sold, and im left with a majority of 1p books - which ive decided to leave up for their 60 run and then recycle if they dont go

now to raid more cupboards to get more bits to list

and a quick couple of questions

jiffy envelopes - ebay or buy 2 get one free from viking (plus free postage)
and why would a payment be pending?? and what should i do about it

It is a good idea - unfortunately one of our collegues had what turned out to be a fatal accident and was air lifted to hospital so we give our proceeds to the yorkshire air ambulance unit.

Jiffy Envelopes - 8 for £1 in Poundland if you can get your books into them
Otherwise Instore (Poundstretcher) do a larger set of 4 for £1.

  • seabiscuit - you've got off to a great start but if you think that the sales will slow down now you could always list your books in read it swap it and start fresh with some others.

I'd go to Viking for the envelopes if there are no cheaper alternatives, my pound shops don't sell them either.

Pending sales are where the buyers credit card won't go through for some reason or other, it may get sorted out or you could email the buyer to see what's up but you will have to re-list it yourself if it doesn't get resolved. If you look at the first post in this thread there is a link to what I laughingly call the 'manual' this may fill in a few more gaps for you.

edit - here it is, save you having to go back
  • thanks - i had read your inital post but must have missed that bit about pending sales - DOH me!!

ive joined read it swap it - excellent idea!!

  • Here's a spooky tale.

I picked up a book from a charity shop (for 20p) around 6 months ago and listed it on Amazon - it sold within 2 hours - brilliant.

I came across the same title in another shop yesterday and ummed and ahhed a bit as to whether to buy it as I had already sold one previously (at 10p I thought it was worth the risk!).

    It sold within 2 hours!!!!

They were only 1p listings on Amazon, but I've made a £1 profit! They weren't the only ones listed either.

So, if I see another one - should I pick it up or assume that lightning only strikes twice?
