On the subject of bad spelling, over on Pepipoo somebody has posted an image of a very large parking sign put up by a PPC called CMS. The sign includes the phrase "Contractoral Agreement".What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

I take it they have gone through the DVLA, I didnt think this was allowed?
They can get your details from DVLA - that's what they did with me - they ask DVLA to run the reg through there database, and provide the registered keepers details to them, and the reason they give DVLA and they must have a valid reason is 'ticket invasion/non payment' amazing really, specially when it isn't a ticket.0 -

Means nothing, still can't be enforced - they would need to prove who parked/drove the car and parked it there a long with a number of other factors.
You didn't sign nothing, so it's simply, continue to ignore PPC's, they mean nothing, nor have any power.0 -

Dear Sir / Madam
Hurlingham Retail Park, London
I am writing to make the following representations regarding the above PCN. It was a great shock to receive it. I had no idea what parking rules I could have contravened. I never had a problem parking there before.
As I am about to go away for a period I am unable to re-visit the car park to check the signage referred to. On checking on the internet about the car park my belief that parking is free for customers is confirmed. This is what I found today:
Hurlingham Retail Park. Customers only. Free. Store purchase required.
There must be some mistake as I did not park for that duration in that car park that day. I parked to visit Currys for a specific reason. I was coming to the end of shopping around for XXXXX having been to the same branch of Currys on 22/8/10 to look at the F/Fs (when I also purchased other items to the value of £XX).
On 12/09/2010 I went back to Currys to look again at the F/Fs in order to come to a final decision. As a result I chose to buy a F/F from Currys, paying £XXX for it next day, 13/09/2010. On the 12/09 I again purchased another item in the shop for £XX. That comes to a total expenditure in Currys of £XXX since 22/08/2010 as a result of my visits to that branch and using the car park (please see copies of receipts)-.
I am a loyal customer of the company, having purchased many items including other high value products such as laptop worth nearly £XXX not long ago.
On the grounds that I parked in the car park for a limited time and purposefully prior to making a high value purchase at Currys; had no idea that I contravened parking rules, having been to this car park many previous times; and am a loyal Currys customer, I am respectfully requesting cancellation of this PCN.
It's not a PCN at all though?! Any claim of such is fraud!
It's a private parking charge, NOT a Penalty charge Noticed issued by a council parking warden or Police.0 -

I know that, I was pointing out that there is no such word as "contractoral".What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

The guy posting with the avatar of Foothills maybe a plant from the parking companies folks!
As no company ever considers such appeals it merely confirms that you are worried enough to write an appeal and potentially pay them.
My preferred method of with dealing parking companies would involve knuckledusters and the use of a long handled axe. Hypothecally of course.0 -

Yes, I did copy my 'appeal' letter to the store, Currys in this case, enclosing evidence of customer loyalty, so I guess this helps
What is a big concern is that many people will not have access to advice such as on this site (I didn't see it before I sent letter) and will be intimidated into paying up. The businesses concerned should shoulder some responsibility for these activities. MPs should be lobbied to address the issue.0 -

It didn't just help, you can bet it was the ONLY reason they cancelled it.What is a big concern is that many people will not have access to advice such as on this site (I didn't see it before I sent letter) and will be intimidated into paying up. Totally agree, whilst we tell everyone not to communicate with the scumbag PPCs themselves, we also advise complaining to the retailers on site, MP, OfT etc. about this shocking harassment. Here's a link I usually post, about stopping harassment:

Glad you got it sorted, and why not park there again and ignore the scammers next time?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
