Should I pay..Civil Enforcement Ltd?
Comments

hi, i havn't posted in a while so thought id let everyone know my situation. i recieved my first letter through the post in may from civil enforcement ltd, then another one or 2 with an increasing amount being owed. then followed letters from newlyn. i ignored everything throughout and recieved 6 or 7 letters in total as well as 2 calls to my home number. the last letter i recieved was a 'notice of court action' in july. its been 6 weeks and ive heard nothing more so hopefully they have given up. thanks to all the people on this site who advised to ignore and i want to reasure people that this is deffinately the best policy! i will post again if i recieve any more letters but i dont think i will!!
Yes we're in same position, son hasn't had phone calls but we are ex-directory and he isn't the bill payer so I didn't expect any. Let's hope they've given up now! Thank you for letting us know.0 -
Hi, I have received a letter from this company dated 02/10/10 regarding parking at Mcdonalds. My car is a company car so all letters go to my head office and then are forwarded to me.
I was 6 & 1/2 minutes over the 75 minute limit in a Mcdonalds/BP service station. Admittedly I did not see the signs but going back today to check they are there.
I am not sure what to do as the advice on here is to ignore them but I know my company will receive all letters first and the Company Car Policy requests that all fines are paid by the driver.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.0 -

As this isn't a fine you should be OK, but make sure your fleet manager understands, you don't want the company paying then trying to dock it from your wages.
If he thinks it needs to be paid, show him this - http://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/2009/5/28/question-private-parking-fines-fleets-urged/30698/0 -
My wife got a parking fine from Civil Enforcement LTD today. Bit unsure which route to go down.
They have written to ME as the registered owner of the vehicle. Read up on the sites that were recommended here and the template letter everyone seems to send them is:Dear Sir or Madam,I am comfortable going down this route, especially as I was not the driver at the time. All the help sites seem dead set that they have no way of enforcing this. However, before I knew it was a "scam" I felt I had a pretty good case to argue. The car park serves a Pizza Hut where my wife and 2 year old daughter had been delayed owing to a complaint. A waitress at Pizza Hut had been extremely rude and made some family-unfriendly comments which my wife brought to the attention of the manager.
I am in receipt of your invoice for parking at the (details of location) on the (insert date). I note you have written to me as the registered keeper of the vehicle. Please be advised that as the registered keeper of the vehicle concerned that I have no liability whatsoever to pay your invoice. You need to contact the driver and invoice them directly.
Please do not correspond with me any further on this matter except to confirm that you will be not taking the matter any further with me as the registered keeper of the vehicle.
Do you think that it would help writing to Pizza Hut with this complaint? It seems like a double dose of bad publicity for them. Do they have any power to force the parking company to drop the charge? It seems a less scary route if that is the case. What do you think?

Waste of time contacting them. I can guarantee that they will ignore your letter and send you a standard "appeal rejected" notice with a demand for more money.
By all means write to Pizza Hut and tell them you will not be eating there again.
There is no "charge" to drop. You owe them nothing, just ignore.0 -

Good advice, thanks. Further reading after I found the template document shows that anyone who sends it still gets letters, so I have decided not to waste a stamp.
In my case I am the keeper of the car but was not the driver, so I'd quite like it if they took me to court. Just to see the judges eyes flit back and forth between me and the CCTV footage of my wife in the car park.
Not going to happen though, is it?

No, you won't get your day in Court even though they like to threaten that you will.
No-one here on the forum recommends sending any template letter - not even the Martin Lewis version. Waste of a stamp as the PPCs just bung out the same standard threatograms regardless.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I have received a ticket from the above for being 12 minutes over the allowed time at MacDonalds.
I find it strange that they are happy to keep taking your money whilst at the same time allowing CEL to issue you with a ticket.
Having looked at the replies posted I am minded to ignore CEL.
Advise please

My advice is to be as you are minded to be ie "Ignore, ignore, ignore some more."

Ignore CEL and think twice before you spend your money in that McDonalds ever again.0
