As dad took it out over the internet I think he must have had a box to tick, but they must have asked if he was self employed surely, the only way egg gave statements was over the internet so as dad forgot his password he could never get in to see what was going on. he worked long nightshift and being tired all the time, not being very computer literate left it and just paid with a standing order both together the loan and PPI. he has rang them today for all his original agreement and they are supposed to ring him back with the insurance phone number but haven't as at 5.30. he is going to the CAB when the paperwork comes.

Ocean were not covered before 2005. The date on the FSA register is 2004 but this was only for mortgages.

    Hi Mike

Like Marshallka have already asked, did you use a broker who arranged this or was it them of Ocean finance that arranged these loans for you?

Double check on this and let us know cheers, we can then check out if they were regulated as such.;)

For one of my loans then for instance, it was a broker called Click finance who arranged the loan but the lender were Nemo.

    Di

It was Ocean that I origianlly phoned and who arranged the loan (that was with igroup)

    Hi Fifi

    With pleasure.

If you require every bit of information maybe a SAR known as a Subject Access Request would be useful to request, this is for them to provide absolutely everything they have on your dad, however, there is a £10 charge of a cheque or postal order payment for this and they must comply by 40 days of request, this includes weekends as well.

If its this you have already done, then do not worry, but if you require a SAR template, let us know where one of us will be happy to post it on here for you.;)

Meanwhile good luck and just ask when and if you require any further help here, your very welcome.

I am wondering, if they were covered by the Financial leasing association (FLA), check this out here and maybe contact them to see what they have to say about this company, where they may or not be able to help, good luck and please let us know.;)

I tried to use the ombudsman, but they told me they werent regulated by them or a member of the GISC at the time.
Seems strange to me that no-one had any jurisdiction over them in 2004

Its is sad for anyone that got sold something from any company not regulated. All sales of insurance became regulated as of 14th Jan 2005 and before that if they were GISC members of a Bank etc...
