    Hiya folks.

Regarding the fast tracking side of things, my hubby had requested this, due to recently been on the sick form work just receiving the usual standard SSP of £75 a week from work, unfortunately it was depression that kept him from work which is not usually like him, but all this stemmed from a job he was in for many years as a steelworker had closed down without notice just a few days before Xmas last year (2007), no monies were left for any of the 400 workers, we had to await for 2 months before anything was paid out which was then by dribs and drabs by the insolvency service.

My hubby had then found similar work about just over 2 months after losing his steel working job then of course the unfortunate happened, the company had lost a huge contract, he was there for just over 4 months then out again.....
Of course this had affected us badly with 2 children, although the one is older now but was at uni at the time, and we have a younger son with special needs, where I am his full time carer and do not work due to this.

A mortgage to pay where we had to wait 6 months before applying again due to the last job loss which occurred Christmas time, and of course without a choice my hubby had to apply for JSA (income based which he did not want to do), and shoved CV's in everywhere, then within 2 weeks he was lucky to find another job.

Unfortunately he broke down in his job the first week, it got to him badly being in one job, then coming out again, he lost all his motivation, the works nurse suggested he should see his GP.

This is what he done and the GP diagnosed hubby with severe depression then was given meds and many specialist appointments, it came down very bad on him, and it all stemmed like I said from his job loss where he spent about 10 years in the steel plant and practically lived there, he has always been a worker.

Anyway, we had contacted the FOS due to hubby's reasons at the start of July with his claims from a few years ago (Credit card) ppi, and asked for fast track for him, due to financially struggling, it was work that paid his SSP not the social security but only the standard amount as he had not been working there long enough.

As said I do not work due to caring for my son with special needs, but would love to return, I used to work in a hospital caring for people with mental and physical disabilities.

A few weeks ago the GP highered my hubby depression meds and has them now on repeat script, but now the last week or so I have noticed he has improved, this was before he heard about the job losses in his recent job.

Unfortunately, things have got bad job wise everywhere, in Wales here no matter where, there are either firms closing down or cutting down, some going into administration etc, this credit crunch - recession does not help.

My husband was informed last week that he is one of the 100 to go, and of course it did not help because of being on the sick, there are another 100 or so to go shortly as well.

This morning, my hubby had a GP appointment and told the doctor he had lost his job, but its now about time he got on looking for another, as he feels he's ready to take the plunge, okay wrong timing now he's lost that job, so today we have been extremely busy sorting things out, already looking for jobs, updating CV'c etc, you name it the whole lot, its been hard and we do not want to stay on benefits.

Anyways, my hubby has been in touch many times now with the FOS about fast tracking to explain the current situation where they always got back to say someone will be in touch, but this has been going on for a few months now.......... and nothing.

So sorry to give you our life story here........and I know there are people lots worse off, there always is, but the FOS should really consider everyone, on benefits or not, everyone has their own reasons for why they request fast tracking, and yes it does get people down badly when your forever holding on.

We had waited 14 months for one of them, they were even aware that hubby lost his job last year when the plant closed down where there were no money to pay any of the workers for 2 months, so sometimes even fast tracking is not fast tracking......... .

I hope the FOS move on with all claims, I know they have high volumes in this issue, but with taking on more staff again would help - surely and I am aware they had done this.

Some people I know are still waiting almost a year with just waiting to be moved on to an Adjudicator........ .

Good luck to you all folks, hope you all win your claims very soon.

    Hi Di

I know it must seem that somebody up there is trying to thwart all your efforts. As soon as things get sorted they knock the ladder out from under you and you have to start again.

I do not know why they bother with a fast track system cause it does not seem to be fast to me:confused: We need a financial body that can tell these lenders if something was unfair or miss-sold and give them a time limit to pay back. If they do not then add 50% to the settlement ( or something) so that they know the quicker they pay the cheaper it will be. Do you see my point:confused:

Anyway lots of love the you and family Di. Are you wearing the belt or Tinsel today:D

Di, I know you have had a hard time but what I was meaning is the important bills are often paid by the state when a family are having to live off benefits and I was meaning about bathgatebuyer and the council tax side of things. I realise that we all have our problems and that you are suffering and I know your Nemo complaint took over 14 months but they disputed it didn't they. Most people on here are actually queuing for that amount of time before its even looked into now:eek: .

I was meaning that if you add up the amount of income someone on benefits can have coming into the household (which is often mortgage/rent and council tax free) and then add up the working man struggling to pay the mortgage and rent and (cause he works he is penalised!!) then TAKE off the mortgage and council tax and whatever else (prescriptions/free school meals etc) often the working man is left with less money to actually live off than the person on benefits. The whole system needs an overall.
  • I'm new to this so bear with me, please.
I have sent numerous letters to A & L to dispute my PPI by using the useful letters from this site.
My first letter was sent 03/10/08 then 21/10/08 and my last 03/11/08.
    I still haven't received anything.
What should my next step be?

    Hiya Marshallka hunni.;)
Yes its so wrong why some are still waiting for all this time before it being passed on to the first stages, and a year as well or even longer...... , yep mine was disputed and that was bad enough, but that was also Nemo requesting for extra time - each time which did not help, yet if we requested for extra time we would not always get these privilages, its just not fair, even the adjudicator under the ombudsman himself said it would have been completed months earlier if Nemo were not forever requesting extra time, they just stalled on every occasion.... .
I feel for the ones still waiting - its just so wrong !

Yes the whole system does need an overall your so right.

Yesterday on the phone when hubby had to contact Jobcentre, they make you feel your a criminal and it was so humiliating, my hubby turned round and told him if he did not have kids he would not have bothered calling..... , but only done what he had to do, and I know he wouldn't of if I didn't tell him to, I have to push him to make these calls, and even with the FOS where he requested months ago for fast track but no feedback up to now anyway, even with telling them the current circumstances.

I also agree with Max, fast track should mean fast track and they should have an individual financial body to deal with these and see what is more urgent as such, but golly these complaints are surely getting higher.

Anyway to top my post off here, I just received my gas and electric bills, £450 for the two...... .

    Hiya hun
Hope you hear from them soon.

As you know they have a full 8 weeks to respond to the first letter, did you post by using recorded delivery?

What I would say when the 8 weeks are gone and you have not heard then complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service, on the complaint form you just add that you waited the 8 weeks but not received a response to your complaint dated XX/XX/XXXX, this way the FOS will still look into this for you.
    Check this out here:
    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm

You will find downloadable complaint forms on the link, or alternatively ring them for a hardcopy through the post, and enclose copies of evidence to support you case, even copies of letters you sent A&L.

    Good luck
