I keep reading about people requesting SARs, excuse my ignorance, what information should I get and what should I be looking for. What happens if the information is not supplied in 30 days or the information cannot be supplied. Thanks0

What is the class act about.. my PPI was sold by a broker and not firstplus and I have a complaint against the insurer for the rebate in at the FOS now.
Is this about the actual agreements or the interest rates etc....
Marsh.. I keep telling ya.. it makes no difference as to who introduced the loan.. The broker is a fob off. The FOS and FSA and even FIRSTPLUS may tell you different, which they would be right in part, however when it comes to legal, then any lawyer will tell you that you have a case regardless of who introduced the loan, and even if the broker is liquidated.
Liquidation protects a company from liability, with the exception of fraud. the mis-selling of PPI is fraud, takes you back to the whole "Law of Agency" and the principles of said law.
It took me months arguing it, and always getting the same response.. Its the Broker.. it was not until I went down the route of legal and wow.. it all comes clear.
The brokers are the introducers.. Full stop.. The lenders are responsible for everything else.0 -

Its 40 days, and its actually an offence not to supply the information.
You should get everything, faxes, emails, telephone calls, letters, post-its.. anything that can identify you or your account should be available to you.
You can even request copies of all CCTV footage where you to visit them.0 -
Hello again
I sent an email to FOS to ask if they had been able to look at my case and this is what I got back, might help others in the queue:-
"Thank you for your email. I can confirm that your case is now with our investigation team awaiting allocation to one of our adjudicators for further investigation.
In order to maintain fairness to everyone using our service we progress and work through cases in strict date order. Bearing this in mind, we aim to progress your case to one of our adjudicators of investigation as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, due to the volume of complaints being received by us in the area of payment protection insurance, we cannot provide you with timescales as to when your case is likely to be progressed to an adjudicator or when it is likely to be resolved, but we will ensure that you are kept fully informed of any developments on the case.
Whilst we appreciate that you would like your case progressed and resolved as soon as possible, and you may feel that the time taken to progress your case appears excessive, we can assure you that the time taken to investigate your case will not disadvantage you in our consideration of the complaint and we are working to progress your case as soon as we can.
I trust this explains the present position of your case. We will be in touch in due course with further updates.
If you need to contact us, please phone us on 020 7093 5500 during office hours, email us" blah blha0 -
Anne, I've had similar too from the FOS for a PPI case I passed them in May 08! I did submit hardship details recently and I'm hoping that this will help move it up the list.
The last communication I had from them said that they were apologising for the delay in dealing with my case and that someone would be in touch with me soon and even said that this would be before March 4th.
Annoyingly I've had a missed call this afternoon which, when I dial it back, I get a message saying that I should leave my name and case number and the person will call me back tomorrow. I'm assuming that because they mentioned a case number then it is the Ombudsman and that the wheels are turning (at last!).
Then again, i did look up the name of he person's voicemail I got and google suggested he's an insolvency practitioner! So, I'm hoping it's just coincidence that someone from the FOS shares a name with him and that I'm on the final stretch of my wait for the FOS to do something.
Edit - the first part of the phone number also takes me to the Office of Fair Trading website so now I really REALLY am curious.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
