For those who don't know it, Charlton House is wonderful architectural survivor, and is easily reached from central London on the train and from most parts of south east London either by train or bus.0

Thank you Bouicca!
Yes you are right, it is worth a visit just to see the wonderful building and if it is a sunny day the park is also lovely to visit, with a little separate cafe (nothing to do with Charlton House) further down the path.
The little cafe is really too little to host a meet and as far as I know they only have tables outside (with lovely warm blankets on the chairs for customers) but I just cannot face the cold for 2 hours! Much rather sit in Charlton House and save a visit to the little cafe in Spring.
Transport to Charlton House (also copied on first post):
From Central London: BR train to Charlton then a few minutes walk uphill (ask for directions).
Or train/DLR to Woolwich Arsenal and a bus ride.
Buses: 53, 54, 380, 422, 486.
Underground: Jubilee Line to North Greenwich then a bus ride (486 takes you very near). Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Anyway, sorry I can't join you but hope you all have a fab time.
Just looked up Charlton Lido - we used to swim there, it was free before 9 am ... doubt if that's still an option!!!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Whoah, Sue, long long time no see, great to see you here! What a pity you cannot make it, are you sure you don't want to jump on a train and revisit the hangouts of your younger years? I have spare room to put you up if you should decide to come along. If not, get on and organise a Bristol meet so I have the excuse to travel West for a couple of days! x
PS they still have the library but no longer in the lovely big wooden panelled hall, but at the back. The old library is used for functions and community events now. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
