  • My wife smokes and she keeps mentioning about getting an electronic cigarette. Does anyone have a recommendation for someone who smokes around 10 a day of Menthol cigarettes? (I have never smoked so don't have a clue what would be suitable).

    Thanks...

Bobby, hope you checked out veronarona's links & have now found a good e-cig for your wife :)

Thank you Isaac - I was so upset at losing the link to our forum from my signature... I went off to email MSE and forgot to come back :(

To anyone who is curious about why there's that "we've had to remove your sig" message in my sig - they tell me they can't police all links in sigs and there have been so many advertising ones that they've had to ban all links.

    veronarona

Just seen that my sig has now been removed :(
  • :(:(:(

I wonder how much the the "permitted signature" displayers paid?

  • Also wondering the same thing Veronarona.

Moderators, I just want to help people find an alternative to smoking. I'm not advertising & not affiliated to any e-cig supplier. I've even refused sponsorship of my forum & instead paying for it to be totally ad free out of my own pocket.

Ever since I bought my first e-cig 2 & a half years ago I've just wanted to let as many people as possible know about how much they can help smokers to quit or even just cut down :) I used to be such a heavy smoker - up to 60 a day.

    Ecigarette newbie here!

Have purchased and received a double starter pack for me and the wife from shmokes.com and I have a question or two!

We ordered 'light' cartomisers with the kits, according to the website, 11mg of nicotine. However, when they arrived, they came with 16mg carts. When I queried this, shmokes said the the website was wrong (website says 16mg is full flavour) and that they do 24mg (full flavour), 16mg (lights) and zero nicotine. They said that this means you now get more puffs but the same level of nicotine. Now, I'm currently a 20 a day smoker of Marlboro Gold (lights) but when I use the ecig, the hit is so harsh that it makes me cough instantly!

Is this normal or am I using it wrong (if I 'draw' less, it doesn't make me cough but I get almost no vapour)?

Also, do I have to stick to shmokes brand of cartomiser or are they a universal thing that I could switch to a different (lighter) brand?

    Many thanks in advance!

    Sean

  • I can't see anything about 11mg carts on the Shmokes website, only 24, 16 and 0.

I've never had anything to do with that type of e-cig, only ones where the atomiser and cartridge are separate, except for the new cartomisers (atty/cart combo), which you can refill with juice.

They don't picture the cart, but if you can open it you could drip in Vegetable Glycerine (from a supermarket bakery section or a chemist) to tone it down a bit - it should also give you nice clouds of vapour.

Newbies (not their fault) do get taken in by sites like Shmokes who specialise in one model only and the model is usually not versatile :( It really is better to go for models that allow you to use e-liquid, which comes in lots of different flavours, strengths and base liquids.

Over on our forum you may possibly find someone who's tried the model you're using and can advise you.

We are quite a small group and an ultra-friendly bunch who don't mind being asked the same "daft" questions over and over again :D

My friend, who is currently coughing his guts up on Golden Virginia, won't make an effort with e-cigs because "they make me cough" - it must be a different sort of cough ;)

Sorry if this post is very disorganised and confusing, that's me most days ;) Do come over to All-About and get more sensible input!

Pleased to see you found your way to our forum Sean, the more the merrier - we're always delighted to help out anyone thinking of trying vaping/ecigs . . . I'm into my 9 month of being an ex-smoker all thanks to these wonderful devices.

Having been a heavy smoker of 36 years standing, I didn't think it would ever be possible.

They've changed it since I phoned them!

And your post doesn't come across as disorganised! Have now registered on the forum and am getting lots of useful info from the very friendly members there. Thanks!

    Sean :D

Edit... well, been on the allaboute-cigarettes forum for a day now and have been bombarding them with newbie questions! I have to say, I don't think I've ever come across a more friendly, helpful bunch... all questions have been met with rapid answers and encouragement. Looks like the days of the cancer stick are numbered for me!
