They reduce the reflections from the lenses only, not the screen... so wearing no specs will result in less reflections than wearing AR coated specs.
What do you define as a negligible correction? My near site prescription is +2.25 and +2.50 for right and left eyes respectively (including a +0.75 distance correction for both), would they fall within your definition? My new spectacles don't have an AR coating and when I first got them I thought they were dirty but in fact it seems to be reflections from light behind me. Is this what the AR coating eliminates?

That's a fair point.
Having said that, some people really struggle without a negligible correction. If they need that, then the anti-reflection coat does help as it cuts reflected light from other light sources in the room and allows the operator to concentrate on the screen. So if you need a correction for VDU, (no mattter how small), then an AR coat is better than no coat.
It does have to be kept extremely clean though, as it will smears will be much more obvious.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

You've hit the nail on the head. With your prescription, I'd bet you'd struggle to focus confortably on the screen without any correction.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

I've tried a few other sites but the model numbers all seem to be different - is this one of the tricks used to ensure that we don't buy online?

My local newspaper (Southampton Echo) had a large add from Specsavers in it last night.
It was promoting glasses complete for £25 and there was also a voucher for a free eye test.
Not sure if this is only local but I'm guessing it's nationwide.Waddle you do eh?0 -
Free eyetest with D&A and 500 nectar points too, see their website for vouchers0

Does anyone know of good prices for changing the lenses of glasses you already own? David Clulow charge £105 for changing the lenses of glasses with metal frames.0

Ive had a complete farce of an order with http://www.wantglasses.co.uk
I rang to check about the NHS vouchers and how I could process the order with one.
I was told to put the order in online, and that although the card details would be taken I wouldnt be charged if I emailed customer services and told them about my voucher. I was assured twice during this conversation that no charges would be made against this account until the voucher had been processed.
I did so, immediatly sent the email through to them and told them my order details.
A couple of hours later, I recieved one back:
Hi Emma,[/font]
Thanks for the email. I have noted this on the system and will wait for your form to come through. We will go ahead with your order in the meantime. I have told accounts not to process your payment however they informed the payment went through... so i have refunded this immediately to your card. Sorry about that!
Hope this ok. Please call or email if you have any more queries
All well and good, but now I have gone overdrawn, the little bit of money in my account that was supposed to be paying for my little boys nursery session this afternoon has been swallowed up and Im now being chaqrged for it
All because someone from the technical department cant be bothered to add an extra option on the payments page
After speaking to customer services Ive now got to go and request a bank statement from my bank, (and pay for it!!) go and post it through to them and have to wait for t to come into my account. This Im told could take up to 10 working days!!!!!
Im disgusted! I rang and checked this information before putting an order in in good faith
Now Im stuck at home with no money and a little boy who's very upset that he cant go to nursery this afternoon. Not impressed at all!!!!!!
Not really a good impression to give a new customer is it?The worst thing is that they have my contact details yet didnt even have the decency to ring and explain the situation themselves. Just sent a fairly flippant email!!!!!!!!!!
Apparently this is a one off, I still struggle to see how it was considering that the sites uses an automated payment system and theres no option for NHS vouchers........
As far as I can see, it will do this every time?????????
You HAVE to enter your card details into the website and it charge automatically, so of course this will happen again!0
