ASDA frameless Variofocals £80 Specsavers or Boots about £250, and that's only if your over 60.,0

Low Cost Glasses appear to be really killing it with cheap glasses starting from £5.0

Avoid Glasses Direct at all costs. Terrible customer service. Incredibly slow to process order. I went with SelectSpecs - cheaper, quicker and better service.

Hi all,
I don't seem to be getting on with my contact lenses as well as I used to, so I'm thinking about buying some glasses I really like (as opposed to finding them a bit of a chore).
I'm short-sighted and my prescription is pretty bad (-6 or so). My current glasses are very small and give me the sense that I'm peering through a little hole to see out.
So I guess I'm looking for pretty big glasses, but because my prescription is so high it probably makes sense to get the more expensive high refractive index ones (1.72?)
Lots of places offer good online deals, but hit you hard with extras i.e. the high refractive lenses.
Any recommendations? Or should I just go to Specsavers/Tescos?0 -

sign up for emails you will get endless offers
There is always 50%+ off complete pairs so that can cut the costs of lens upgrades.
the cheap frames offers and BOGOF are less useful but get pairs for <£10
There are some 55%(55SPECS is a regular one) and maybe even higher offers that might still work.
There are also some chunky frame options that can disguise high prescription with lower index.
My latest pair was a varifocal, photo, coatings, rimless ~£50.
56% code inc. Shipping.
I just tried -6sph with 1.67 lenses and coatings around £34 rimless or £26 in a cheap frame
(a 59% code worked)

the cheap frames offers and BOGOF are less useful but get pairs for <£10The problem with buying from "Goggles4U UK" is that the individual running the site doesn't manufacture any spectacles at all, he or she is trading anonymously (and therefore illegally) from a residential address in Swindon, Wiltshire (132 Redcliffe Street, Rodbourne, Swindon SN2 2BY), passing the orders - as an affiliate - to the USA.He or she has no connection whatsoever with American Eyewear Inc of California, USA, other than receiving payment as an affiliate, but the bad news is that if you buy from this site you will have no consumer rights whatsoever that can be enforced in the UK... and because this individual ("Skybeans") is anonymous, you can't even use the County Court to try to get any money back in case of problems. Have a look at all of the fake reviews for "Skybeans" on SiteJabber!Sadly, Trading Standards are aware of problems, but don't have the resources to identify and prosecute Skybeans for his/her activities. You would be far better placing the order directly with American Eyewear Inc and paying for your order in US dollars: you still have no enforceable legal rights but you cut out the "middle man".Interestingly, but not directly relevant other than to explain why criminals get away with this sort of activity, 123reg Limited - the domain registrars for the goggles4U.co.uk site - and Nominet Limited, the registrar for the .uk top level domain, each state that the other is responsible for enforcing the breaches of contractual of terms and conditions by the registrant in doing this... so, of course, neither has done anything whatsoever! The original correspondence with each of these companies and their responses are all available to anyone with a genuine interest in verifying this.
