Best look to see if Martin has done an article on the main part of the website on anything you wish to purchase. In the case of spectacles, he has and lists manufacturers in ascending order of prices. It's near the bottom of the page

    Good luck

I 've had the same glasses for years (prescription hardly changed and wear contacts most of the time) ut one lens is now badlt stratched as decided to buy same new.
Went glasses direct via topcashback, 12% off. I first of all ordered a couple of pairs to try at home, costs £3.75 a pair to do this but I think its worth it to make sure they fit and look right. According to D&A when I got my last glasses, I have an odd shaped face and odd colouring and it can make finding the right glasses difficult (which was how I ended up with contacts after years of glasses that didn't quite suit).
Decided on a pair costing £15, p+P £3.75, will get 12% cashback, 1% on cashback credit card, and 50% back the healthcare scheme. Must be the cheapest glasses ever.:money:

I have just ordered a reglaze with www.ciliaryblue.com for £20. they send you a box for you to send back your specs and copy prescription. I will post the results (I have also posted on Great Cheap Glasses Hunt) as I have been reading both threads. On the verge of buying some rimless.....I have asked before but got no response "are the cheapo ones £20 - £30 similar in quality to Specsavers. Thoughts on Zenni-Optical?

We've had 3 pairs of specs from Zenni, varifocals with separate magnetic sunshades for husband are excellent, sunglasses for me are lovely and another pair of ordinary glasses for me with matching sun shades.
We have been pleased with all of them. Initiallly there were some delays with email replies. The plastic frames do feel less sturdy than other brands ut they have been in continual use for nearly 9 months now without breaking. The prices and choice of frames and lens are excellent I think. The glasses are shipped from HK not USA. We will use them again

I have just used glasses direct as i needed a second pair. I usally wear varifocals (horribly expensive from D&A) but wanted distance only as varifocals make me feeel unsteady on my feet whan I am fell-walking (as you have to look at your feet a lot througth the "near vision" sections.) . I also prefer distance only glasses for long-distance driving- I get my kids to map read now!. They cost £18.75 incluing postage - came promplty, are almost indistinguishable from my other pair(I just choose near identical frames to the last pair i had). ,fit well, are comfortable and i won't cry if they blow off on top of a moutain like my last (expensive) pair before last did.

I have a very mild prescrition and I think they are excellent as as back up/outdoor pair.

    Hi

I have ordered twice now from Goggles4u and found them to be very good with the first order, so now reordered,, each pair of glasses including anti glare and one used for sunglasses with 80% tint came to just over £12.50 a pair and second pair has a 15% return customer discount. Cant complain, just waiting for delivery which should be any day now :D

Glasses delivered today, really pleased, I had an 80% tint sunglasses put onto reading glasses, well packaged and delivered for a total cost of £11.70 ? How can specsavers and the High Street justify there rates whne I can order direct from America and have prescription sunglasses delivered for under £12.

All good news so far re Ciliary Blue. Order for re-glaze emailed through on Monday night and postage pre-paid box arrived this morning for me to send my specs. So far very efficient.:j

They are justified because they include all the overhead costsof the eye examination. When calculated the actual cost of an examination, including use of specialist equipment, room rental, heating, lighting and of course the optometrist time comes to about 100 pounds, and yet the fee for the examination is usually a quarter of this.

The more people but their specs online the higher the price of the examination will get as the cost simply won't be covered by other aspects of the business. I'd love to see how people plan on saving money on their eye test when it reaches 100 quid!! Maybe I'll patent an online guide to testing your own eyes...;)

Just received my new pair from glasses direct and I can't believe how nice they are! I chose the venice semi rimless frame and they look as expensive as my OH's specsavers semi rimless ones!

When the optician checked my eyes (at specsavers) I didn't realise how different to my old pair they were going to be and as I haven't worn my other pair for a week or so, putting these on had made so much difference!!
