or you can slice and freeze them to use another timeI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Afternoon all!
A very lazy day here so far - a friend lent me the book Empress Orchid by Anchee Min, I had to read it straight through!
I'd better get on now as I have a kilo of mince to deal with. I meant to freeze it in smaller batches but stupidly didn't. The plan was lasagne and shepherd pies for the freezer, but now Thriflady has reminded me about Nigella's mini mealoaves (on another thread) I may have to make those again. They were yum as I recall.
Had a blonde moment reading Panda's post - I thought Oh,my tesco is closed too... just realised we are probably talking about the same one.
Have lovely Saturdays all0 -
Afternoon
I too have been MiA for a few days due to w*rk/life balance not balancing
Big (((HUGS))) to all those who want/need them x
I've been plodding along in my MSE world (apart from yesterday when we went to the pub for a team lunch and then I had fish n chips from the chippie for tea) I have however found the GC has really been helping me keep the shopping spending down. Funds are getting a bit short now though but I've got £22 to last rest of week inc loo roll, sugar, butter, veg, meat, milk, salad and lunchbox stuff - should be ok though have meal planned and am planning on batch cooking some mince for shep's pie and filled yorkshires :money::T For the packed lunches I'm going to do s/w's, jellies, choc fridge cake and sponge today and put in to portions so that I can freeze it and just grab it the night before.
On the house front.... well need to dust and hoover, am half way through sorting kitchen cupboards out and have tidied bedrooms.
I've just been lazy this morning (well-deserved lazy - I would like to point out) but have bathed DD2, done spellings with her and done timestables with DD1. I've also made pancakes, but as I didn't have any milk I made up some semi-skilled powdered milk and used that instead. The pancakes were the best I've ever made and had that bubbly texture so I'll def only use that from now on.
Anyway, back to the kitchen ......

I am currently reading Judith Levines Not Buying It - very interesting, all about anti-consumerism - she 'vowed' not to buy anything 'unneccessary' for a year. Shame she went on a buying spree beforehand though
you'll have to let me know if its any good! you are the second person who has mentioned it and im trying to decide wether its worth getting it or not0 -
Candygirl, I am glad it went as well as it could, and that sounds like alovely peaceful place. Hope you all manage to share some happy memories later too. Also sending strength & positive thoughts for your friend & her baby.
Triggles, I never realised you could reuse the yankee tarts, thank you for that. I love themAnd Snowy, they do car air-fresheners too?? I must look out for them...

Just had a quick deco - the sausages I get from Donny market are now available on line here. Them and the bacon were what the Hairy Bikers used in the program when they called at the market on their 1st "baking" program. We like them as they are meaty and do not seem to have much fat in them.
