I am currently reading Judith Levines Not Buying It - very interesting, all about anti-consumerism - she 'vowed' not to buy anything 'unneccessary' for a year. Shame she went on a buying spree beforehand though

you'll have to let me know if its any good! you are the second person who has mentioned it and im trying to decide wether its worth getting it or not
It's not bad LtoS but I'd borrow it from the library if I were you I don't think it is worth handing over cash for, and of course much more in the spirit of the book;)

    Afternoon everyone.

Gosh its cold and damp here in the North-West. Got rather wet waiting for DD to come out of ballet but then the poppy seller we stopped to get our poppies from said how pretty and nicely dressed DD was so that made my day.

Tea tonight will be Tacos followed by a hot bath and an early night. Don't forget to change your boiler timers if you have heating coming on in the morning.

    Have a good day everyone

DH is busy painting the lounge and we have had another trip to the DIY shops. I can't bare to think how much money we have spent in the last few weeks but I'm sure it will be worth it in the end. Next job is to find curtain material for our 3m wide French Windows.

Candygirl - so glad it went well today, and that does sound like a lovely spot.

Have picked up my rocking chair which is in the front room at the mom, not sure if it will stay there. Thats where I would like to have it but it might be a bit cluttered.

The walk down memory lane was scary! My Nan and Grandad used to have a chalet in Jaywick, they sold it a few years ago. I havnt been that way for about 25 years and its like a shanty town now. I feel so sorry for the people who live there. Quite upseting but I guess life does move on.

Anyway, house looks quite clean and tidy, gonna go and get ready in a min for the first grown up night out ive had in ages.

    Afternoon all

Hugs to you and yours Candygirl

I've had a mixed afternoon - The Town of Many Charity Shops yielded some rather nice dvds, a couple of which will make excellent christmas presents, lots of lovely books and some tops for work. Then dd(19) treated me to lunch ..... and told me that she's pregnant. I was hoping that she would go to college now that dgs(3) is in nursery and am very unkeen on her bf but what can you do. Anyway I've brought dgs back with me as she hasn't been feeling very well and he is now watching one of my finds - world's end - on dvd. Apparantly there are 50 pirate johnny depps all at once coming up - cant wait.

We've had a big lunch so tea tonight will probably be cheese on toast for me and dgs followed by a dvd fest and nana-huggles on the sofa athough I seriously need to do some cleaning

    have a good evening all

Triggles, I never realised you could reuse the yankee tarts, thank you for that. I love them :) And Snowy, they do car air-fresheners too?? I must look out for them...

Squiggly Diddly, yes, they do car air fresheners!! As far as I can see there are two types - there are the ones which work on the same principal as those little tree shaped ones in a bag and are simply fragrance. Then the other type is made of gel and has some sort of odor neutralising agent in it as well as fragrance. I bought three of the gel ones and have one in the car (leather) and one in the bathroom attached to the pull cord of the electric shower and that one is lavender. The 3rd one is French Vanilla and I don't know where I'm going to put that yet.

Progress report on Dylan: still no change. He's scoffing raw chicken now as the holistic vet suggested raw meat which may stimulate his bowel. I'll be so happy when he presents me with a log.
