Good morning everyone:hello:
Just spent a happy hour reading my new Persephone newsletter/catalogue. I highly recommend their books. There are two new additions which I think will be of interest to Old Stylers -Round About a Pound a Week and The Country Housewife's Book. Check them out
I haven't really thought about meals today yet. Lunch will probably be some kind of soup. I have several tins of coconut milk and some sweet potatoes which might make a good soup. I'd better defrost some chicken stock.
Supper will be something vegetarian, maybe dahl and veg curry or possibly pizza. Fruit salad for pud although it feels a bit too chilly for fruit salad.0 -
RageinEden & Moneysavingdiva - regarding those Yankee Candles - I'm addicted to them too - absolutely love them! If it helps (if you don't already do this!), I order them online from a UK source, but I use the tarts and the tart burner - you can reuse those tarts again and again. When I want to swap out for a different scented tart, I pop the previous one out of the burner and put it in a resealable plastic bag, and then I can reuse it again another time. I bought a stackful during a sale two years ago, and am still reusing some of them and some I haven't even opened yet!MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Hello everyone
Thank you all so much for your good wishes about Dylan. He's at the vet's right now having another enema done to help him become comfortable for a few days. I did manage to get hold of a homeopathy vet in the end, and have a (telephone) consultation with her later today. My own vet has referred cattle to her before, but never a small animal. It's worth a try definitely. There is a conventional medicine drug which would/should have done the trick, but unfortunately it was removed from the market as it was a human drug and there were some incidences of bad side effects in humans. I did a bit of internerding last night and managed to track some down abroad and have ordered it. It's a bit naughty but again it is worth the effort. With these two options still to explore I am feeling a bit more positive. I'm not kidding myself though, Dylan is very ill and he may not have long left.
MSD - have you tried the sausages from a real butcher's rather than pre-packaged ones? I think they tend to have a better flavour and texture. Cheap is desirable of course, but so is quality and you'll get that from the butcher. You could even have a chat with him and get him to recommend something for you both.
Welcome back beetheebee!
Diva, I don't think you were around when there was a Pukka Pad frenzy about two years ago. For some reason they were the "must have" household accessory on the daily. I got one, and it's still virgin white inside:o:rolleyes:
I got a Yankee Candles gel car freshener in the leather fragrance for my vroom vroom. It smells like James Bond has been in there, v.v.sexy! Shame it's just usually me on my little ownsome but a girl can dream.
OK, I'm off now to get Dylan back from his enema. Bye for now.

Morning :hello:
I've returned to an OS mood, so lots to do todayMr troo went shopping yesterday and spent £84.84  so I'm not sure if I want to OS because I like it, or out of necessity :rotfl:
Handwashing, sweeping, batch cooking and cage cleaning. I'm not sure who's eating what today, the troos are going to be in and out all day. It's like they're on a bungee rope
We had a letter from Wescot DCA today, they're using their usual scare tactics and lies to get us to pay almost £1000 within 7 days  They've used a reference number I've never heard of and got the amount completely wrong  I've had great fun writing a nasty letter to them, then toned it down a lot cos I swore a lotThey're completely in the wrong and I've let them know that I know that. I'm hoping they'll take it further, I want them to take us to court
I'm going to have loads of fun with this
Snowy, I've just read about Dylan. I hope it goes well todayI am a coffee bean0 -
I'm back :j:rotfl:
Well what a [STRIKE]busy[/STRIKE] lazy panda I have beenthis morning, had a strange lie in  I kept on waking up and thinking there was someone else in the house (I was on my own
) and kept hearing thud thud thud noises........but being the lazy panda I turned over and went back to sleep :rotfl:I woke up proper about 10am and looked out the window to see [STRIKE]a gloriously sunshine autumnal day[/STRIKE] my neighbours have the plasterers in! So that was the noises..........the joys of terraced living!
Anyway in other newsI made new veg soup last night, whizzed it with the stick blender (although its a 1st new use as it only does instant whip or yorkie pud mix) and its a bit naff......its not got the thicknes I wanted! So back to the stove me thinks
Just had a megga clear out of the stack of papers/letters/statements that had congregated in the kitchen, made 4 piles ( 2sons, me and the bin) and now theres just the 2 boys to sort theirs out. Feels better.
I need to do some shopping for bits today but I'm reluctant to do as I'm an avid point collecter and with my Mr T's shut I'm left with going into asda *cough*
Oh well, must be off soon as the day whizzes by when I get stuck on here.......
Panda xx

Morning! Its really wet here in the North West, but warmer than it was.I'm feeling quite pleased with myself as I actually managed to do all the jobs I mentally set myself yesterday, although one skirt I've taken in isn't hanging right so I need to redo that .
I've soup to make from the turkey leg stock, and need to strip the meat off,but I think I'll freeze that.
DS1 called on his way home from work,so that was a nice surprise. He took a(nother) pot of the hm strawberry jam with him,but declined a loaf which I'd just taken out-just as well really as I would have had to put the bm straight back on,but it's no bother really.
DH has just popped out, think he is bringing pasties back for lunch(ok,not os,but very tasty)
Snowy-hope Dylan is more comfy now,and you can spoil him this weekend.

good morning :hello:
Diva - thanks for the welcomewe love a tasty sausage too, if it's for sandwiches then I love a plain pork sausage, but if it's for a bake etc then I love the flavoured ones, I always go for as near to 100% meat content as I can
Squiggly - I'm working on a research proposal too, early stages though, and put on hold while I've been ill
Mrs Mix - hope you feel better too, my OH has come down with same as me and also can't take anything due to taking BP medication
taplady - I have a patient that often brings me bags of apples, I cook and freeze them on their own then defrost and make into crumble/pie etc I also freeze some small portions to use with a pork dinner
ravylesley - we love x factor toopopcorn is a fave treat for me as it's fairly lowfat
Nels - Saturday Kitchen memories, memories
Snowy - thinking of you and Dylan, he's a lucky cat to have you and I hope your determination and love pays off
I'ts very dark and dreary outside today, I've put some jeans on the line to blow but need to watch out for rain, the line is under some trees so gives me 5 mins to get washing in before it gets wet
I did mean to try the M&S £10 deal but nearest M&S is 10 miles away and don't feel up to going out just for that. So I'm going to do Potatoes stuffed with marscapone and chives and a HM pizza to use up some ham and peppers lurking in the fridge, will probably add a few more things I find too

Good morning, everyone  DH has just brough me coffee and one of DS's HM butterfly buns. Unfortunately, that's wafted icing sugar over my keyboard, so another job, if I don't want sticky keys
Aren't there a lot of spammers out today   They're popping up faster than I can delete them
I'm making apple braid for later, 5-seed cheesy rolls, and lentil and bacon soup for lunch. I'll put a cake in the Rayburn, too, while it's hot. DH has been doing some of the "round to it" jobs (putting up beautiful brass tiebacks, sanding some woodwork).
Pizza and Strictly for supper :j
Troo - why do you have a letter from Wescotprofessional nosiness really, they're usually pretty reasonable, IME
thriftlady - remember, up the Tigers :T :T :T :T :T (do you like the orange)
Snowy - hugs for you and Dylan
Nelski - watching Saturday Kitchen just about counts as "doing OS"
Have a great day, everyone, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Baggies baggies boing boing!!!:p to Tigers:D
Right I'm off to do something as all my family have returned and there is no sign of lunch.
