OS Daily Thread - Saturday 25th October

Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for saturday 25th October . It is an 'over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.
Morning all!
Snowy - Oh poor you and poor Dylan. I am so sorry you are faced with such a hard decision.
We managed to pick up the £10 M & S deal again this month and I paid for it with a voucher from surveys so that was free food - it will taste so much better!! We got the Oakham Chicken and pork stuffing plus the amazing sticky toffee pud. Had the remains of the bacon and sausage bake thingy for dinner last night though. My OH and I are still trying to find a sausage we both like. We have tried so many brands and either one or the other of us doesn't like them!
Planning to do some more gardening tomorrow if this lovely sunshine lasts - I have some more winter garlic to plant and tubs to tidy up etc. My OH asked me to make him a list (A list!! Yay!
) of jobs he needed to do in the garden that I cannot manage. He will regret asking that...*evil chuckle*
Glad - glad to have you with us!
Candy - hugs to you honey, it can't have been easy yesterday.
Hi Pandas honey and
. Of COURSE you are welcome here! In fact welcome to all the newbies who 'fell' in and posted yesterday!
Smoky - hugs to you too
Blairweech - hope you feel better soon hon and hope the visit with your mum goes well.
RageinEden - I also have an addiction to scented candles, specifically Yankee Candles and Woodwicks and I use scented inks occasionally in my fountain pen, depending on who I am writing to of course!! Luckily I have two fave fountain pens so don't have to keep swapping inks.. but I am right there with you hon!
sickofhavingnomoney - We are more sad than we really need to discuss I think
bootsalebabe - YES! I like that explanation MUCH better, we are simply very organised!:rotfl: :rotfl:
Sooooooo glad to see so many other people have stationery and list addictions, I love how you can make one small task break into 2 or more items if you are clever and then you get to cross them allll off in one go.. I could run master classes in it..
Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day!
to anyone who needs them and congratulations to anyone who is celebrating today!

Good morning, MSD, and all who follow. Meanmarie - thanks for the welcome back!Well, I lost my line-spacing on here yesterday and I don't know if it corrected itself when the PC was turned off last night.
I shan't know until I post this!I have a huge pile of ironing to do this morning and a trip to the Post Office to post a lovely piece of fabric I found in a charity shop yesterday for my Mum. She's making bags for charities and the fabric I found is a Laura Ashley one covered in lovely mermaids. It's a huge piece and only cost 99p.Dinner tonight is lamb curry and rice followed by cornettos for pudding - they are six for £1 in Iceland at the moment. My Mum introduced me to Iceland when I way away and I was surprised how cheap they are for lots of things, not just frozen. I shall visit more often because there's one in my village. I thought they only sold frozen foods but they have a lot of basics in there too.We have a brand new Woolworths opening on 30th so I shall visit with the handful of High Street vouchers I have collected this year.Well, off for a shower and then I must get DH up for work. Sadly, he is working for most of the weekend. We can't grumble really; he's still quite busy and this is an extra job that turned up. I may be returning to work in a month or so (after I've done the two weeks cover that my ex-boss has asked me to do); it will be really handy if DH's work takes a dip but I'm not really looking forward to it! Still, I won't complain when so many people are facing redundancy. The news is full of doom and gloom; I know the situation is becoming pretty dire and I am as worried as everyone, but why don't the media also start suggesting ways that people can help themselves? A good dose of MSE tips, advice and OS recipes would go a long way. Not everyone has access to a PC and the wonderful advice on here would help a lot of people, especially those who are too young to remember the last recession.Anyway, must go and have a shower.See you all later and (((hugs))) to everyone in need.KathyXXKNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Morning Diva & Mioliere and all to follow
Diva, there is absolutely nothing wrong with liking stationery & listsHow was the cheesecake in the end?? Or are you still working your way through it?
Kathy, nope your line spacing is still gone & sorry but I can't make any suggestions how you can change it..Iceland does have some bargains, though I have found you need to be careful as some things work out more expensive (as they tend to round prices up to whole numbers). But I stock up my freezer, esp in summer, with ice-lollies, cornettos, etc as I don't mind the kids having them then, rather than spend £1 a time for an ice-cream from the van!
Need to do some more work on writing up my research proposal this weekend, I'd like to have it fairly close to finished if at all possible. But will get the sheets washed & out on the line if the sun keeps shining, and also make yet more Rocky Road (which is then eaten in 10 seconds) and some carrot & creme fraiche soup for lunch today. Also need to have a hoover round, quick clean of the bathroom, and so on...
((((hugs)))) to all needing them, have a good day.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Hello all,
I have been MiA for a while, have been so busy trying to get the 1001 things done ready for having 24 guests staying in Nov.
I've been batch cooking like crazy, I have vacumed every stone wall in the cottage, and spent every dry minute in the garden.
Today I have to make a chocolate birthday cake for DD2, her b/day is on Tuesday but as she will be working we will have a family doo tomorrow. I promised to make DD1 and DGD an apple pie for them to take home. Have to check ingredience for dinner tomorrow 4 meat eaters and 2 veggies so will make 2 differant meals.
Must check on DF's house as they are away, will pick some of their apples, kindly offered.
I haven't read through since last Tuesday so off to catch up.0 -
Hola! everyone
Trying again, but my post keep being eaten, and even if I do the copy before hand, then I lose the connection and call it quits.
Snowy - ((hugs)) to you and Dylan.
Blairweech - I am sure your Mum will understand and "muck in", just be honest with her and ask for help, us Mum's love that :rotfl:
:grouphug: to everyone who is in the wars
:hello: to all newbies
 to all - welcome back M!
Taking DCousin to the market today, don't know how far we will get before she has had enough, but DH going to come and pick us up when we reach that point and a point where we can meet. That will probably be all she can manage for the day. Will get a herby rotissiered chicken from the mobile stall, and have a late lunch/early dinner with that.
M - if you do end up working time, and DH is lucky enough to find work, maybe you have to consider some help with the jobs you don't like doing rather than stressing trying to do everything. It may help someone else who cannot do alternative work and needs the funds.
Jayward - thanks for passing the info on, it seems a bit more reasonable this morning.
Take care - DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Morning all
Hubby went to work on Thursday & was then offered another weeks work, starting today, so no lie in for me as we'll be up at 5 to get him to the station on time, it's long on hours & short on pay but at least it's work.
On Thursday he was clearing a garden & found 2 plaques a sun & a moon, the owner didn't want them so hubby brought them home for me.
I don't have to go into work at all next week, woohoo, so I shall probably get another blanket finished & I shall meet a friend for lunch one day & that means some different charity shops to look in, I must also clear out at least one room & make a Dr's appointment. I shall have the heating on more too, I really can't cope if it gets too cold.
Sorry to hear about Dylan, Snowey.
Hugs to Smokey, Mrs Mix, PP, jay & anyone else in need.

Not a happy bunny got a pair of UGGs via martins link they arrived yesterday so i took them outside to spray them with waterproof spray asked OH to bring them in when he locked the bottom gate and then reminded him so came down this am and guess what they are still outside:mad: I would point out that i am super mad as he is off on scout camp this morning and needed me to get up to get his sandwiches ready and find some bits for him.
DW is emptied and reloaded and washing machine not sure whats for tea still delving into the bottom of the freezer .
Am off to Lakeside again with my mum as when we went the other day she was unwell and had to go home to be honest i would rather pull my own teeth out with rusty pliers than go on a saturday but we are going to pop into my aunts on the way to holiday on mon and drop off the xmas pressies
hugs to all who need them and have a good day0 -
Just popped back having seen DH off the premises to work.Squiggly - I shall have to ask on the techie board about my line-spacing; my 'thanks' button doesn't work, either - it just refreshes the page! Must have some gremlins in the works. I'm going to do a proper reccie of Iceland and only buy the bargains. The cornettos and so on are definitely much cheaper than the icecream van! Also, I like the fact that most of their stuff is additive free.Donny - thanks for the welcome back. I like your suggestion of getting outside help, too! I could probably justify getting someone to do the ironing. I did get very stressed when I last worked (in the same job - am I a sucker for punishment?!) and was trying to do too much. I'm two years older now so that won't have changed. As you say, it would help someone else who needs the money. My next door neighbour has someone to do a few hours cleaning a week and it helps her a lot. Ideally, I would like Bethebee to come and live here! She'd get my house running super-efficiently! How about it, Beth?Well, I didn't have my shower because DH got up earlier than expected; I shall put the BM on and clear up the breakfast things then get showered and then get going on the dreaded chores.See you all later.KathyXXKNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

I've just found that I can email on here for technical problems so I've just asked for advice on my line-spacing and non-thanking 'thanks' button!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:
