[...]I expect them to employ the most competent email house in the land who guarantee they will get the email there and not have it classed as spam.

However as it happens none of the previous Icesave marketing emails from hearfrom.come were trapped as spam so clearly something very wrong was done with this email to cause the problem.

It was an email sent to lots and lots of people, containing a hyperlink.

For some spam filters, these two things are sufficient for it to be flagged as spam.
It may as some others have suggested be to do with the language in the email about sending money to us. To avoid this all they needed to do was send us a link to a web page with the announcement about how our funds would come back to us in an email and the email would then probably not have been trapped as spam.
Doubtful, for the two reasons above.
Well their email has been almost universally classed as spam
Again, doubtful. It was not (IME) flagged as such at GMail.

-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries

Well their email has been almost universally classed as spam but they have not so far addressed either the problem content or sending process that is causing this and then resent the message to everybody.

Really????? It certainly didn't end up in my spam file and I use Gmail which has one of the most robust spam filters I know!

Sorry, but I am lost. The post appears to have become a bit of a war-zone anyway.

Well their email has been almost universally classed as spam but they have not so far addressed either the problem content or sending process that is causing this and then resent the message to everybody. I judge these matters by results and Newcastle Building Society's Mailing House (Hearsay) have clearly failed on a spectacular level here.

On what facts do you base that statement ?
Some people have reported that the mail has been trapped by a spam filter.
If you were able analyse the results I would speculate (which is what your'e doing) that the vast majority received the email direct to their inbox.

I explained the situation and the FSCS e-mail we have recently received at which point she said she would have to check something as they had a recent update from HM Treasury in response to their queries on the subject.

She returned and was very apologetic but the update was to say that HMT have no guide or advice for the banks on how to deal with the matter therefore the RBS’s stance is that they will not be accepting any ISA transfers from Icesave accounts. That ended the meeting there and then.

Fair enough if they don’t know what to do with us why should they be bothered. Still I’m looking forward to my next monthly phone call when they ask me to come in for a customer review.

You don't need to give a bank any reason why you want to open an ISA - just open one so it's ready for when you need it. You can also apply for an ISA online, and you don't need to specify at that time how you will fund the ISA, or that you will want to transfer money in. That can all be done later.

As and when you have your certificate for the Icesave money, you send/give that to the bank, together with a cheque drawn from the account you are holding the returned money in. Keep copies of everything you give/send to the bank, and monitor that they are cashing the cheque within a reasonable time.

Perhaps someone could set up one of those voting threads. Don't know how to do it myself
