Why not just log in to Icesave every 2-3 days and see if the FSCS initiate button is working for you?.
We care because most Icesave investors are not reading the threads in this forum and also not everybody will be able to get hold of their money at the same time as the process is being staggered over several weeks.
The second notification emails are the process by why the start of the staggered repayment period for any individual account holder is being managed and controlled. If that fails to get there then the process fails. This matters because of the non payment of interest after Oct 7th and the large sums involved and therefore the significant amounts of interest (in to the hundreds of pounds in some cases) that anyone not getting the email on time stands to lose. This would be much less of a problem if interest was still being paid by FSCS on the Instant Access accounts up to the date on which the money is withdrawn.0 -

Some people have said that it may mess up ones account if you try this, I can't remember who posted it or if it's true?
FWIW I can't see how it would mess things up myself, can anyone elaborate on this?:)0 -

It is just the good boys and girls who always follow the company rulebook and never ever break things like speed limits no matter how stupid they may be who are saying this kind of thing (that it will mess up your account and being able to get back your money in a timely fashion).
Anyone with any basic understanding of computer systems will understand that pressing a button to a not currently active function will not do any harm at all to your account. I have tried it and it doesn't do any harm.
What do people expect will happen if you press it before you get the second email? Do they expect that a big flashing sign saying "naughty, naughty and we will now deduct £100 from your account for each time you use this button without first getting the second email" will appear?:rolleyes:0 -
Whilst everyone is waiting you could print off account details so you have a record for any tax returns next year - can't see any statements of tax paid from icesave being likely next year.
BTW I also clicked the intiate button and also get the come back later message. No £100 deducted message!! :rotfl:
My bet is for past 11pm tonight for bulk of first mails to start - any one want to open a book?0 -

My bet would be not before tomorrow as probably no IT staff are in the office today to kick off the process.
If the FSCS are trying to chisel us out of several weeks interest and also trying to save themselves the cost of two stamps per account holder then I very much doubt they are paying for 24/7 working by the IT staff involved.0 -

Perhaps they have an automated process set up to trickle emails out at random?0 -

Some people claim to have received the 2nd email this morning?0

"claim" being the operative word.
When I try to select Initiate on my account after logging in I still get:-"If you do not see any options below then you are currently unable to initiate your FSCS claim. Once you have received your email notification please log back into your account and initiate your FSCS claim."0
