Not negative, just realistic. And yes, I do have accounts with Icesave so I'm in the same boat as everyone else here. And just for the record I'm female :)
I understand now ,you are an Essex girl ,that explains your point of view.

    Because you live in Essex.

Do I? You appear to know more about me than I know myself! You've even tried claiming you know what my accent is! I'd quit before you make yourself appear any more foolish than you already have. You really shouldn't make so many assumptions about people

People who call other people "dipsticks" are probably also regularly heard to call other people "muppets" and to say "alright mate" at regular intervals I would imagine.
You have a great imagination! :rotfl:

Each day we lose money ,and the FSCS hold the reins , they make the rules up as they go along and we should be grateful.

What I don't see is why the whole website had to be restructured to let us get our money out. All they needed was a direct pipe in to a government bank account to supply the funds and then account access could have been switched back on exactly as it was before except with inward payments blocked. Since we are no longer being paid any interest on Instant Access accounts we would all then have every incentive to get our money the hell out of Icesave as soon as possible.

Or if they were worried the flimsy site would crash they could just have told us our money would auto transfer to our main nominated bank account on date x. In that way there would be no need to log on to their server and it would not have crashed.

And they surely can't be serious that the UK banking system cannot handle an additional 200,000+ BACS payments on one day when it regularly handles millions of them.

Personally I think they have just been playing for time while the government works out how it can rejig its finances to come up with the £800 million it is putting in and what happens to the FSCS if another smaller bank collapses (since big banks are not allowed to collapse) and the FSCS has to pay out on that one as well.

I guess being an Essex Girl perhaps excuses why you have never heard about Barrow Boys then, even though they principally tend to come from where you live. It says you live in Essex in your publicly displayed profile. Did the tooth fairy perhaps put it there for you then?

Judging from the use of the word Dipstick (not popular amongst the younger generation even in Essex or South London) and having enough money to put in Icesave I reckon you are aged 50+ and educationally left school at 16 or whatever earlier age may have been permitted in those days. This is on the basis that well educated people would not need to resort to the use of the term Dipstick when they do not agree with someone else's point of view.:p

As to accent I would have said rather more like Eastenders than Buckingham Palace.
  • Just out of interest would you be more forgiving of someone born and raised in Lancashire?

But you still moved to Essex though and I'm sure people in Lancashire don't call other people dipsticks.

You couldn't be farther from the truth if you tried! I just love the way someone can make such wild assumptions based on a spurious word in an internet profile :D

I wouldn't have a clue whether people in Essex or Lancashire call each other dipsticks!

PS Apologies to everyone else for taking the thread so far OT, I ought to have resisted the temptation to respond to this guy, sorry :o

Its purpose was also to alert people who might say perhaps be away on holiday in a place where there is no easy web cafe internet access etc (the USA for instance which has almost no public web cafes) when the second email arrives.
Really? Nearly every little town in the States had several three years ago, plus all their public libraries. Have they been banned since then?

Unfortunately since then cheap wireless access and cheap GPRS/3G data access has arrive all over the USA and everbody who travels now has their own wireless enabled device. This has closed down nearly all the internet cafes apart from public libraries as they simply cannot earn enough money.

Be warned do not go to the USA on holiday without your own wifi enabled device if you want to be able to access the internet on an easy daily basis.

Every damn coffee store and small motel we stayed in had wireless access but only one hotel we stayed at over 14 days had a computer you could use in their lobby if you had not come armed with your own laptop PC.
