IMPORTANT! FSCS Icesave payouts to start in November...

Since it was a internet only account originally, Why should the FSCS also be held responsible for people who don't know how to operate their email accounts properly?
Because the facility to alter your email address to another one has been withdrawn and because the volume of emails they are sending out and/or the mickey mouse bulk email sender they are using is resulting in most of the email being classed as spam.
The Royal Mail 1st class post has the capacity to get it to every account holder in either one or two business days without any spam filtration problem. They could always email and send in the post to ensure people get the message. I would say that with the second communication that is absolutely essential.
And I repeat Icesave did communicate by post both when I opened the account and when I needed my password renotifying. Communication was not exclusively by email.0 -

Short summary:
“Sorry to have wasted your time Sir but we can’t help you, goodbye”
With a little more detail:
I explained the situation and the FSCS e-mail we have recently received at which point she said she would have to check something as they had a recent update from HM Treasury in response to their queries on the subject.
She returned and was very apologetic but the update was to say that HMT have no guide or advice for the banks on how to deal with the matter therefore the RBS’s stance is that they will not be accepting any ISA transfers from Icesave accounts. That ended the meeting there and then.
Fair enough if they don’t know what to do with us why should they be bothered. Still I’m looking forward to my next monthly phone call when they ask me to come in for a customer review. :think:0 -
Had my meeting with local RBS branch regarding opening an ISA so that I can transfer my Icesave ISA there once I get it back.

I suspect once you have an ISA Certificate in your hand issued by the FSCS or HMT, and your cash is back with you this will change.0 -
Is anyone else still waiting for their first Icesave email?
I have just phoned the helpline and they said the last batch has been delayed. The deadline for getting this email is now late tonight.
If you don't get it by tomorrow morning you can phone over the weekend:
Sat 9 - 5
Sun 10 - 4
It would be reassuring to know that others are still waiting.:hello:

Hi Keep_Smiling
There is a separate thread dealing with non receipt of the FSCS/Icesave email here

Hi Keep_Smiling,

Thanks for responding. Apparently they are sending out the emails slowly as each batch generates a lot of phone calls and they can only handle so many at the call center.
Also some emails have been delayed as they have bounced back. A bit worrying that but as long as all account holders are expecting the arrival of the email there shouldn't be a problem.
I did ask if the second emails will be sent out in the same order as the first emails but needless to say the call center staff don't know. .0 -

Why would you want to try so hard to give your money to a bank that would have just gone bust without a government bailout after being with Icesave, especially when they clearly don't want your money. The words "frying pan" and "fire" immediately spring to my mind.
Suggest you try a more ethically and better run institution owned by the investors like Nationwide or the Co-Op.0 -

Hi polyphonic99,
As you can see from my "score" this is the first time I've been on this forum )or any other for that matter) and I haven't quite figured out how to pick up on a relevant thread.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. :hello:
