Because it seems the form will not be sent out until maturity and will take time to process. The FSCS are only saying that they "hope to process the forms within 6 weeks". I think that by allowing for postal delays etc, logistical problems and the lack of any real incentive to be quicker now that the story has dropped, a 12 week wait could be on the cards - we simply do not know and should plan for the worst.

BTW I have just written to Money Box Live and asked them to look into this for us.

I have sent Money Box both my emails to the Chairman and CEO of the FSCS regarding them failing to pay interest after October 7th on Instant Access accounts and that being totally unfair when they control the gap with no interest until repayment is made. I have also pointed out that the loss of interest contradicts previous assurances given by Alistair Darling and is a major deficiency in the terms and conditions of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

I hope that they will also cover the issue of the use of email for notifications by the FSCS when it is all being filtered as spam instead of sending the notifications in the post as they should have done.

No thanks - would much rather receive a notification within hours of it being sent out rather than waiting for the post which can can take anything upto a week.

Since it was a internet only account originally, Why should the FSCS also be held responsible for people who don't know how to operate their email accounts properly?

LOL how patronising can you be? My spam filter via my ISP control is OFF, my local spam is EMPTY, my online quarentine is empty, I have not received the email, its my fault now is it? My email address is correct on the Icesave website?

While I dont agree it should all be done by post saying its our fault for not running our email accounts properly is a joke.
  • It would appear that the Icesave website now allows you to log in. There's a button "initiate" where the details of the account used to be. However, since I haven't had the email from them yet, I feel obliged to wait. But if there's anyone here with more moral fibre than I (and bear in mind that it locks you out allegedly if you start the process) and could detail what the mysterious initiate button does, I'd be greatly appreciative.

    READ THIS THREAD

We will receive the forms in December if we want to leave our fixed term accounts to mature and they will be paid out as soon as they have matured, so no having to wait 6, 12 or any amount of weeks!

I wish people would obtain FACTS before trying to cause fear and panic amongst everyone

Sorry, but We still don't have this in clear, unambiguous writing, so no facts yet at all in my book! The thread you refer to seems to report as many calls to the FSCS reporting that the 6-week form wait would begin from maturity as from the date we expect in late November.
