Hi i cancelled on 0018773508480
Extreme Acai Berry0 -
I have also just received my "free" trial bottle and got the shock of my life when I read the small print that accompanied the tablets about being charged monthly. I rang my bank but like others have already said they said they couldn't help and I would just have to wait and see if anything came out and then they would look into it, I didn't want to take that risk so rang back later and reported my card as lost/stolen. It is a pain because it's my debit card but I noticed in an ealrier comment that someone said that it's harder to stop it on debit rather than a credit card - why?? Also has anybody got any idea how much a call to utah is?? I am hoping that this is now the end of it as if you've only given um your card details and then cancel that card then surely (hopefully) that's it and they can't get any more money out of u - if anybody knows more about credit/debit cards then please advise - thanks:j0

thanks for this but it has just spoiled my day, I thought cancelling my card would stop payments, wot a nitemare. I have tried ringing zillions of times and never got through. Please let me know what fraud dept at bank say? for some reason I can't read private messages, my computer blocks um so please post it publicly. Wot a pity my computer didn't block the advert for acai berry and then I wouldn't be in this pickle.:rolleyes:0

There is another scam outthere that is very similar that I was conned by it is wu-yi-source tea . Exactly the same thing, you pay for postage to get your free trial tea. It was my bank the halifax that spotted some odd payments leaving my account and they phoned me to check that I was aware of them, when I told them I wasn't they cancelled my debit card for me. Have since received invoices and yet more of the damn tea, but at least they can't get anymore of my money, they have already had £90. Think I'll stick to good old tetley in future !0

There's nothing wrong with Sambazon's enterprise re the Acai berry.
There's everything wrong with a complex network of seemingly "independent" sites that have no connection with the people behind Sambazon and which, although appearing to be independent and objective, are actually affiliate or Trojan Horse sites developed specifically to drive people into the arms of Acai product sellers.
This is especially true of one particular website which seeks to convince the unwary that it is a co.uk. website or has a UK presence. It doesn't.
The trick here, as with all such get-your-free-trial-here, is that user failure to check just what it is they're signing up to will bring in money to the scammer.
Sadly, small print Terms & Conditions have always been a pain to read through, but nowadays doing so is mandatory where ANY website invites the user to "tick the box" accepting T&Cs. People still fail to do so, either because they're in a hurry, or because they think they'll confront pages of legalese that don't, ultimately, impinge on the product or service.
The T&Cs of the particular "FREE TRIAL" Acai website are such that, once ticked, the user has freely entered into a contract with a supplier in the USA. The parties to that contract are the person who ticked the box and the supplier: neither a bank nor credit card company has any say in the matter -- they don't control the decisions or actions of a visitor to a website.
As the recession is now biting, FREE TRIAL websites, or FREE TRIAL offers, are going to proliferate -- and especially where slimming products, or diet-associated products, are concerned in the New Year.
Moral: if ANY offer is conditional upon "ticking a box" to accept Terms & Conditions, DON'T TICK IT and DON'T SIGN UP. Why bother reading either a pile of legalese or, as in this case, the revelation that what you thought you were getting from a UK supplier is, in fact, an American scam -- when any GENUINE free trial offer will have the offer's conditions printed on-screen (or even, no conditions at all.)
We were interested in the acai berries (from Sambazon) but encountered so many well-nigh criminal rip-offs from American outfits trading on Sambazon's reputation that we spurned all "offers" and instead bought from UK suppliers.
And yes, we're happy with our purchase, though sympathetic to all those deceived by fake sites, false offers, and deliberately deceitful 'free trials'.
* On almost the same topic: DON'T give your credit card or debit card (or anything else) to household name softeware publishers providing anti-virus "solutions".
Some of the biggest names in the business make a fortune out of the credit card recurring charge they levy on "automatic subscription renewal". You might think the product brand is hugely respectable -- generally, it is -- but the con trick involved in automatically recurring subscriptions most certainly isn't ( it actually originated with American !!!!!! sites, according to US federal watchdogs, and was then 'adopted' by so-called 'legitimate' business. . .)
Anyway, where antivirus is concerned, there are a host of free consumer products out there -- from Avast to AVG -- which are more than adequate for the average home computer user. . . so why pay anything at all???0 -
Well, apparently "Grace" did ok by using this stuff. See http://gracesweightloss.com/ which is a link I found on the latest uktv G.O.L.D. newsletter. Maybe uktv should be updated with all the above tales of woe and taken to task for failing to protect their viewers.
"Grace" is a scam-blog. So is this:
http://healthyseason.blogspot.com/2008/11/oprahs-acai-weight-loss-diet-is-best.html
Scam-blogs are becoming as common as scam websites because people are awakening to the fact that a website can be a con. . . whereas a "blog" must be "genuine" because it was authored by a "real" person.
Yeah. Right.
Whatever route is taken via various "blogs" and even websites which, in their Google ads, purport to tell "the actual truth about Acai!", the ultimate destination will be a scam outfit (which may or may not even provide the product) or, in many instances, end here:
https://www.extremeacaiberry.com/uk/index.php?affID=68&subaffID=350371133&opt=400963
one of the "Free Trial" and / or "Free Sample" outfits that doesn't even have a box to tick, merely a tiny link buried at the webpage bottom: "Terms".
Obviously, no-one should go anywhere near

Has anyone who posted 3-4 weeks ago been charged any further amounts from their accounts after cancelling their credit card or after receiving their cancellation code from this company?0

Got my free trial sample today (16 Dec) after ordering on 4 Dec. The other day it occurred to me to look on MSE and saw the stories on this thread. Went back to the Extreme Acai Berry site and read the terms - eek! Tried to call last night but got "number not recognised" - double eek! Alerted my bank and they said that if a further charge appears they wll dispute it for me if I want them too.
Bottle arrived today. It says the trial is for 14 days but there are 14 tablets & they recommend min 2 per day so it's only 7 days worth! Tried phoning the number on the leaflet enclosed 1-877-350-8480 tonight - via Skype so only costing 1p/min - and got through after 1 minute. Spoke to a lady who offered to send me another free sample and extend the trial another 14 days. I said thanks but no thanks. She said that no further charges would be made but I will keep a beady eye on my credit card bill for the next couple of months.
Like others on this post, feeling slightly embarrassed at having been caught out :embarasse . What kind of company only gives you one way of contacting them, espcially when they regularly ship abroad?? THIS kind obviously!!£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250
£2 Savers Club 2015 #8 £250£200 :j
