  • I can't believe how I've been taken in with this. I've decided that I'm going to report my credit card as lost/stolen on Monday and get a new card, that should stop it right? I feel soooo stupid about falling for this scam.

Not sure of the implications-but presumably no one is going to steal your card and get goods sent to the owners address..

I have also just received my "free" trial bottle and got the shock of my life when I read the small print that accompanied the tablets about being charged monthly. I rang my bank but like others have already said they said they couldn't help and I would just have to wait and see if anything came out and then they would look into it, I didn't want to take that risk so rang back later and reported my card as lost/stolen. It is a pain because it's my debit card but I noticed in an ealrier comment that someone said that it's harder to stop it on debit rather than a credit card - why?? Also has anybody got any idea how much a call to utah is?? I am hoping that this is now the end of it as if you've only given um your card details and then cancel that card then surely (hopefully) that's it and they can't get any more money out of u - if anybody knows more about credit/debit cards then please advise - thanks:j
  • i signed up for the free acai berry trial too, and i feel like a right idiot now. anyway, i just thought i'd let you know what happened. i read the slip of paper that came with the free trial when i received it today, and i realised that i was about to get stung, so i went into my bank (i payed on my debit card - double fool) and they said that there was nothing i could do about it, and i needed to speak to the company and cancel my order. i called a few times earlier, but never got anywhere. anyway, i have been persistent tonight in calling and i finally got through. when you call the number 1-877-350-8480 it connects to an automated message that tells you "thanks for calling customer service, due to large call volumes blah blah blah..", then at the end of the message the phone rings once. after that a number of things can happen:
    1. silence - hang up and try again.
    2. music like you're on hold for about 30 seconds, and then silence - hang up and try again.
    3. beep-beep-beep-beep-beep - hang up and try again.
    4. music like you're on hold. After about 10 minutes they answered. I spoke to christine - agent i.d 23564. she looked me up on their database, then i asked to cancel the order. she asked the reason and i told her that i had realised that their company was taking the, err, mick (i may not have used such polite language). she cancelled it and gave me a 7 digit reference number. she also confirmed that no shipments had yet been sent. when she asked if there was anything else she could help with i asked her for her email address, which she refused to give me, and then i asked for a company email address which she also refused to give me. then i asked her if she was an employee there or management, because i was hoping to persuade her to take the company down from the inside, but she tactfully sidestepped my question. anyway, hopefully i've acted fast enough to not have to pay for anything other than my 30 day trial postage and about 8 international phone calls. so if you've been unfortunate enough to get sucked into this, then i recommend persisting on the phone. i started calling tonight about 10.30pm, and i think it took about 6 attempts before i got through to someone at about 11.20pm.
if anyone is keen to form a possee with me and go raze this place to the ground then i'm keen.

WELLL.. as I stated a couple of weeks ago, I did the same as you - EXCEPT - I read the conditions straightafter hitting Submit - I went thru the above process about an hour after submitting and was also told that nothing would be sent - HOWEVER.. I did receive
the free trial (even tho they said it wouldnt be sent..) and I am still keepin an eagle eye on my bank - i was one of the folk who fed into forum about the bank stating you had to wait till the money off a/c before they can take action.. dont know why either!! Atrocious aint it?

I am interested to know if anyone has cancelled their debit or credit card and what happened after that?? I have tried ringing this rogue company loads of times but have not yet got thru. Also who can we complain to as surely this is illegal, I know I've been an idiot signing up to it but to be honest I thought the company would have a UK contact number that I could contact to cancel it. At least I have learned a valuable lesson and will read the fine print in future and make sure that there are contact numbers/e.mail addresses on the sites I use, that is if this hasn't put me off for life.

Oh one last thing has anyone actually used the tablets they received and did they work?? to be honest I'm scared to try them because if they are as dodgy as the people who sell them I'll probably end up in hospital. ;)
  • Well, apparently "Grace" did ok by using this stuff. See http://gracesweightloss.com/ which is a link I found on the latest uktv G.O.L.D. newsletter. Maybe uktv should be updated with all the above tales of woe and taken to task for failing to protect their viewers.
  • Reading what everyone else has posted, everything appears to be covered by everyone in some shape or form. I have just phoned (8.15pm)
001-877-350-8480 got all the stuff, music no reply etc. decided to stay holding regardless what cost might be, got through in about 3 minutes to Mary who was quite helpful and gave me my 7 digit cancellation code
Also cancelled credit card to be on the safe side. I have always considered myself very cautious to scams and anything remotely dodgy. Live an Learn.
    NEVER AGAIN.
  • I was looking at a few websites today about free trials, can i just ask you all, I know there are lots of different products about and various websites and places that sell it... but as you all seemed to have been scammed, are you all getting your products from the same place?

Has anyone else been sucked into this "free" scam thats online about Acai Berries????
I heard good things about the health benefits of taking acai berry power and decided to order the free trial from their website as you only have to pay about £2 p&p..... anyway I put all of my details in and clicked submit, by which time it was too late to realise that in the small print it states that once you order the free trial unless you cancel it within 14 days they automatically charge your credit card for a further supply and its about £40 or £50 each time until you cancel!!
anyway, they have a phone number on their website but as they are in Florida they have conveniently forgotten to give the rest of the number (dialing codes etc) and I was wondering if anyone has successfully managed to cancel this after receiving the free trial?????
I have tried searching online for dialing codes but all the numbers I have tried are unobtainable
    001 954 877 350 8480 & 001 989 877 350 8480

    Please can anyone help me????????

I was also sucked in to this scam and failed to see the small print, also rang the number that did not exsist and could not find any kind of dialling code either ,however, i decided to take drastic action and cancel my card that i used and order a new one, so they could not take any further monies from my account. Well thats what i thought!! only to be corrected by my bank along the lines of they can still take funds from the cancelled card details, it just takes a little longer as they are in the states, unles you go into your branch and fill in numerous forms stating what has happened and why, and then i have been told they can finally stop payments being taken!
    Bloody nightmare!!!!
