. . . indicated that the sort code on my linked account "looked funny" and believes that this is now the reason. Therefore, in order for me to progress this, I need to send through a bank statement, a copy of my passport and they will investigate again! Apparently there is no one with any information who can check why the payment hasn't gone through so they are working off suppositions and hypotheses

Their statements are beyond a joke. Instead of saying "it looks funny" why don't they look it up - all banks have a complete list of all sort codes.

If they are willing to tell you what sort code they are holding ( I don't see mine available on my account details on the KE site) you can tell them straightaway whether it's correct or not.

If it is, indeed, wrong then I can see the point of them asking for documents, but to be working off supposition and hypotheses when the facts can be got at so easily just confirms what a bunch of incompetents they are.
CHAPS out 8 Oct KE - received 20 Oct A+L
    Still here for moral support.
  • I am well past being patient now. I'm into the 5th week of waiting for my money. There is no justification for this wait. I have told them three times over the weeks all the details of the transaction. They can see the transaction on their system so where is my money? Everytime they say someone will get back to me. Why do they never call me, send me an email or secure message? Do they think I'll go away if they keep ignoring me? There's no point shouting at the people on the phones because it's not their fault, it's the idiots above them. I am sick to death of all this. Thanks to them I am going to miss out on a decent fixed rate for my savings. I'll no doubt have to chase them for weeks for all my lost interest when I eventually get my money back. No reply to my email to Alastair Hemmings either.
GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK NOW!
  • After five weeks my money is home safe. :T Imagine my surprise when I realised that they had charged me a £20 transaction fee  Needless to say I have explained my position to them and they assure me that the £20 will be refunded without any further delay.

Best wishes to all of you still waiting. :A

I'm in a similar position. Called this morning, told thatthey would ring me back in a few minutes, I said you have told me that at least 6 times before but not once have you actually called back. Oh this time we wil. Yet again of course they havent.

If you intending to go for a fixed rate deal, I would highly recommend at least applying for one at Birmingham Mishaires ASAP. As of monday afternoon, they are still ofering about 6.5% plus. for 6 months or a year. If you completethe online application form they will send you a form and give you until Nov 30 to get a check to them. With a bit of luck your KE funds will come htrouh by then, if not you wont have lost anything I would expect BM (partof the HBOS group to drop their rtaes any day now, but if you have initiated the application before they are dropped you should be OK
  • Great to see some more payments arriving - but agonising over those still on tenterhooks!

Just received this prompt reply to a secure email to KE about a second £20 charge for non-happening CHAPS, being the amount found to be missing upon the arrival at Lloyds TSB on 22/10:

    08 Nov 2008

    Dear Mr (me)

    Thank you for your message.

Please accept our apologies for the extra CHAPS fee that was taken. I have passed your details on for this to be refunded.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to get back in touch.

    Yours sincerely

Looks like this well-mannered lady will go onto my Christmas card list. I hope this helps others still missing money from the CHAPS non-event.

I was really anticipating a lot of payments today; what's keeping them?

Prodigy, sorry to hear that nothing has happened for you yet - just keep hammering away at them with phonecalls and mails and you'll get there.
