  • Hi,
Understand what your saying if your still one of the poor folks still waiting

But it needs the presure stepped up, they all ways need more time, I say they have had too much already.

Sometimes I think we in UK bend over backwards to be seen to be helping the situation, I think some of the folks still waiting must have one hell of a backache.

INGand KE need a got bolt of lightening to keep them in foucs on the real job in hand, never mind to efforts in contacting their so called UK customers to let them know of intrst rates cuts, GET THE FIRST JOB FINISHED FIRST
CHAPS transfer on 7/8 October 2008, with KE, second on 17 October 2008, never heard or a word back, frrom ING paid late 30 October2008
  • Hey,

So i joined up with kaupthing edge i think in september and kept my money in there, so its going fine, and my moneys going in ok (i aint tried to take any out)

But i read that its no longer under the england bank code, where you get £50,000 back if it goes bust.
I now read that its £75,000 but with the Dutch bank code, at least something like that.

Im completely new to savings accounts, and just wondered, is my money safe? shall i keep it in there? or do you think its best i take it out and put it into another savings account?

Im sorry but im worried sick now, thanks for your help!

    Hi folks

Been out filming today and thought I would check in. It is VERY frustrating that people still havent got their cash. I am going to speak to the Sunday Times again and see if I can do anything there.

Sadly it is tough to get this on the media agenda.

  • Hi,
Just had a recap on the poll run on the forum, only 5 people, in the whole time the polls been operating, have reported that they have had information from ING "WHEN STILL NOT BEEN PAID" about what happened to their money.

THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE, information costs nothing, and is your right, to know............................ this CANNOT be allowed ever to happen
ever again, WE MUST VOTE WITH OUR FEET

  • What I don’t understand is why my Girlfriend received a welcome letter from ING weeks ago when her HERITABLE money was transferred to ING, but nothing when the Kaupthing-Edge was transferred

Don't worry, ING is a very big Bank and was recently supported by the Dutch government to the tune of 10 billion Euro. I am in the same position as you and did'nt move my savings and don't intend to. ING is no more likely to go to the wall than any other major European Bank especially when it's home Government have a 10bn Euro stake in it.

I would start legal proceedings - all of you need to nominate a solicitor and send an email to the board of ING and the Administrators saying you will move to court action and will be claiming compensation for distress as well as the money due to you.

All the evidence needed in a court case to support the compensation for stress is right here.

I'm so sorry for everyone who's not got their money, I sent one mail which I admit was pretty nasty and my money came through within hours.

It's time to step it up, these people won't listen upset people, they only take threats seriously, so give them what they're asking for!

Best of luck and Regards to all.

    Loulybooly,

Yes, any bank is as safe as the next in the current climate. But it'll theoretically be a lot easier to get money back from a UK bank that's gone belly-up than a non-UK one. You might have protection up to 100,000 Euros in ING, but from what I've understood it can take a year to get your money back. And look how stressed the people on this thread are after 1 month! By all means, ask people for recommendations, but you really need to do your own research too, and find what's best for you. Most people here wouldn't touch an ING savings account with a barge pole now, including me.

To refer to my earlier post, I've sent an email to my reporter-friend, so fingers crossed. Again, if anyone's from the Devon area, please make yourselves known (PM me or something) - having a local person/interest for the story, whether you've got your money back or not, means more chance of it being published! :j
(It might not sound like much, but the nationals pick up on stories in local papers all the time!)
