Thank god - Thought I was getting paranoid!!
Does seem quite conspicuous that someone would throw their oar in at this stage & praise the conduct of the people at ING. Considering his previous post, I would definitely say he's on the inside! Or one of the.....>S**T brigade that didn't know whether to make a run or leave it as is!
Now that it's all starting to clear up, I suspect that he was one of the trembling party but daren't say a word but now it's a told you all so!!

If he/she truthfully believes what's he/she is saying, and isn't an ING "insider", then the basic premise of what makes a good company is being missed.
It's not how well they perform when things are going right, but how well they perform when things go wrong.
By no stretch of the imagination could ING's performance ever be classified as anything better than appalling.0 -

I agree with UnhappyHarry. Since shortly after they opened in the UK ING have shown (IMHO) that they give customer care a low priority - to put it as politely as I can. And this episode reinforces that. They have contradicted themselves ("everybody has been paid" - "er no, hang on, they haven't"). They have blamed others (who is this fabled "clearing bank"?). They haven't told us - their customers - what is going on. So to praise them at this juncture is to give rose coloured spectacles a bad name.
I wrote fairly early on to "nice Mr Hemmings" pointing out that people missing their money probably had committments to meet - so to continue saying "your money is safe" is to miss the point completely.
But, of course, bjorn is entitled to his opinion.CHAPS out 8 Oct KE - received 20 Oct A+L
Still here for moral support.0 -

As regards this particular passport scheme I feel that with the Dutch Government making a Euro 10bn stake in ING the week before last, it is highly unlikely that ING will be allowed to fold. I don't think that comparing the Icelandic economy to the Dutch economy makes sense either. Just my opinions and I definitely do not work for ING.
I also have money with Icesave and that is still out of reach, but I am sure it is coming home soon.0 -
I will go to ING again; ONCE again, to withdraw whatever cash I have left there!
I'm feeling very confident now about tomorrow, so GOOD LUCK TO US ALL and may this thread be closed tomorrow evening - for ever!0 -

The above assuming that neither of you had felt the stress and anguish of some of the good people on here?? - Some of whom, were left in dire straights without reason nor plausible explanation of when they could function normally. other than "your money is safe" What comfort is that I may ask; to the pensioner that had all their life savings tied up without any official confirmation of where their money was, what strategy had been put in place to cosolidate their hard eared savings. And in fact, when they would ever likey to see them again....If ever!
Your opinions are all very well once the huricane has been down graded to a severe weather warning!Non illigitamus carborundum!!0 -
I sincerely wish I'd been in Timbuktu over the time that the news of KE's difficulties broke. However, I was one of the unfortunates who heard the whispers of sell offs and decided that waiting to find out what might befall our money wasn't an option.
I don't think that anyone who hasn't experienced the stomach-churning, bottom-dropping-out-of-your world horror that most people here have gone through in the last few weeks, can have any idea what it feels like to know that one day you had thousands of pounds in hard earned savings, and the next that there's no trace of it and no-one will tell you where it has gone to. I wish I hadn't had to go through this experience, but I did and it has definitely coloured my view of KE, ING and banking in general.
Being told my money is safe just isn't good enough, being given deadline after failed deadline is just insulting our intelligence, and unfortunately ING will be reaping the rewards for it's appalling customer service for quite a long time.
I have learnt a salutary lesson from the last few weeks and I hope that ING has too.CHAPS 8/10 received Halifax 20/10
BACS 18/11 (£30) (actioned 19/11) received CHAPS Halifax 21/11
BACS 24/11 (£50) (actioned 25/11) received Halifax 28/11

Just thought i'd get some light relief away from all this by watching Lewis Hamilton win the F1 Drivers' Championship - but imagine my dismay when instead of relaxation I see bloody ING logos whiz past my eyes emblazoned all over some of the cars !! I am also seeing those 3 letters in my sleep - now where are those pills that nice psychiatrist gave me ........0
